1 10-hour position to be completed by Friday, March 28, 2025 (Pending approval of funding)

Successful applicants will be compensated at the Remedial Rate ($50.67/hour x 10 hours plus benefits)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

An Ontario Teacher’s Certificate of Qualification

A University Degree

Qualifications to teach in two divisions (junior/ intermediate preferred)

Some district or system-level experience in an equity-related role (preferred)

Five years of Secondary teaching experience (preferred)

Anti-Black Racism, Part 1 or learnt/ lived experience in this area (recommended)

KEY COMPETENCIES OF THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

Successful applicants for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion elementary writing team will have:
in-depth knowledge of Culturally Relevant and Responsive Pedagogy (CRRP) and anti-oppressive pedagogy

some familiarity with the soon-to-be-released Black History Learning in the Grade 10 History curriculum being launched in September 2025;
a repertoire of effective evidence-informed instructional strategies to engage students in learning;
in-depth knowledge of assessment, evaluation and reporting;
experience using a variety of digital tools to support online instruction, assessment and student engagement;
an ability to align professional learning with system priorities;
experience in the design and facilitation of effective professional learning;
experience working in collaboration with colleagues;
excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; and awareness of

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

The successful applicant will:
work collaboratively with the Student Achievement and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion teams to ensure the tools below are created with a focus on Canadian Black History, culturally responsive and anti-oppressive pedagogies, specifically:
digital Scope and Sequence document with corresponding resources to support expectation clusters.

digital “Canadian Black History” grade 10 student resources to support and enhance year-long learning to be embedded in the new mandatory Black History Learning.

Creating a guidance document to support cross-curricular connections in History and Literacy.

develop intermediate teacher resources and learning materials that focus on elevating Black History as Canadian History by highlighting the various Black communities that emerged, developed, and contributed to the development of Canada, including pre-and post-Confederation.

develop short pre
- and post-instruction assessments that may be used to inform instruction and identify growth over time.

develop additional resources to support educators in establishing effective culturally responsive instruction, assessment, and evaluation practices in multi-level classrooms.

build educator capacity related to culturally responsive and anti-oppressive instruction and assessment practices
- other responsibilities to be determined based on the emerging learning needs of the system
