The City of Port Coquitlam’s Recreation Department is looking for an energetic, results orientated individual to join the team as a full time Recreation Specialist - Sports. Working in collaboration with the Recreation Coordinator Sports and Fitness, you will be responsible for sport program development, providing specialized technical support and leadership to community recreation sport user groups while ensuring that industry standards are adhered to with respect to program and service quality, operating policies and procedures, staff hiring and training requirements, and safety protocols.

- Strong experience supervising and coaching staff and volunteers including assisting with hiring, training and providing feedback;
- Experience in providing services and programs to the community including experience planning, designing and promoting programs and services to meet the needs of the community;
- Ability to take initiative and employ independent judgment in the development and coordination of programs;
- Experience performing a variety of administrative tasks related to the operation of the facilities and programs;
- Able to maintain great relationships with staff, contractors, partners and the general public;
- Ability to represent the department and division in a positive, professional manner, speak effectively in public and lead others in the response to urgent matters and emergency situations.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation;
- Three to five years of experience in the area that includes experience supervising staff; and
- Certified Sport for life - Physical Literacy Instructor, High Five Trainer, NCCP certified and Standard first aid and CPR-C.
