Primary Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility is to perform Buying & Inventory management activities to ensure in stock service level goals are achieved while maintaining inventory levels, turns, margin and inventory goals. Other responsibilities include working collaboratively with internal and external groups to effectively execute inventory replenishment activities and resolve issues and proactively identify opportunity areas and create solutions. This position is also responsible for managing the inventory to meet budgeted goals and positively reduce the capital investment in inventory and to procure product at the lowest landed net cost, taking into account all supply-side (logístical) opportunities to reduce costs and enhance system wide efficiencies. Essential Functions:

- Buy and Manage inventory investment to maximize fill rates and inventory turns. KPI monitoring and Analysis (Sales, Aging, Forecast Accuracy)
- Monitor inventory levels and place purchase orders as necessary to support the business. Analyze proposed purchase orders by using relevant information, including forecast, historical demand, in stocks and inventory turns metrics. Manage Distribution Centre inventory exceptions (stock-out, excess and dating issues) to achieve turns and fill rate objectives.
- Manage forecast in system and ensure Customers both internal and external are performing.
- Ensure accuracy of purchase orders and vendor invoices by maintaining item pricing, lead times and vendor information in the system. Identifying areas or procurement cost savings. Identify process improvements, opportunities and recommend solutions.
- Review and optimize transportation by load utilization, and transportation modes from vendor to Distribution Centre. Liaise with freight forwarders and shipping lines and their respective personnel to ensure good service and competitive rates.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for each shipment. Ensue all required documentation for various government agencies is available, correctly completed and given to our customs broker for CFIA well ahead of the time required.
- Check and approve invoices of received files and send to our Costing department in a timely manner if assistant needs help.
- Maintain vendor relationships in a professional manner.
- Liaise and support cross-functional teams, (Vendors, Stores, Logistics, Sales, Marketing and Finance) to ensure the company meets performance targets.
- Handle confidential information with discretion.
- Must maintain good attendance and maintain safe work practices.,
- Other duties and special projects as requested.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude:

- Bachelor’s degree preferred, Business, supply chain or engineering with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in purchasing and inventory management.
- Extensive container Shipping experience, not limited to Ocean, Air, Rail and Road
- Comprehensive experience working with forwarders, ocean shipping lines and airlines
- Experience with regulatory affairs, (CFIA, FIN report) preferred. Customs clearance experience. Previous experience with CBSA preferred.
- Understand terms and conditions pertaining to logistics
- Previous experience with Supply Chain Finance (Bank drafts and L.C)
- Enrollment in or completion of SCMP or related course would be an asset.
- Proficient in MS Excel required, with knowledge of other MS Office tools. AS400 and Cognos preferred.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, superior organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, ability to get along with diverse personalities and develop strong business relationships with vendors and associates; tactful, mature and flexible. Must have good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
- High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faced projects with day-to-day activities.
- Ability to establish creditability and be decisive but be able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
