**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Supervisor, Accounting Services leads and coaches a team in maintaining and enhancing the coordination and delivery of a wide variety of financial services, ensuring accuracy as well as a high level of quality and adherence to policy and procedures.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue
- Pcard(credit card) processing/payment
- Cash management
- HST tax treatment and CRA requirements
- Support staff in the daily/weekly/monthly processing of the above transactions. Conducts quality control ranging in complexity and variety of services.
- Provides guidance and advice to the team on addressing customer service concerns and queries, addressing escalated concerns, ensuring compliance of internal accounts receivable and payable, cash management to relevant legislation and policies, health and safety and other related policies.
- Maintains oversight, support and control over designated purchaser/sales representative profiles pertaining to workflow approval.
- Coordinates quarterly and year-end financial reporting, including preparation of financial schedules and working papers. Preparation of external audit documents and working papers in conjunction with the Manager, Finance.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of industry best practices, continued efficient financial processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.
- Leads the team in daily/weekly/monthly duties within a business unit/division or at a site, allocating tasks and supporting the development of the team. Manages employee and team performance.
- Communicates with the team members regularly to assess workload and status of activities, reassigns workflow to staff as needed, accommodating for any situational circumstances. Ensures that team members understand expectations; communicates schedule, tasks, and discusses priorities of items.
- Supports onboarding and provides on-the-job training and support as needed for individuals. Identifies gaps and areas for potential improvement and training and development.
- Supports a culture of workplace equity and inclusion that celebrates diversity.
- In collaboration with Human Resources:
- Manages team recruitment, selection and hiring of talent.
- Manages individual employee development and individual development plans, considering high performing staff and managing underperforming staff.
- Recommends compensation performance adjustments.
- Recommends individuals for promotions/transfers.
- Work with Manager, Finance to ensure resources are in place to manage day-to-day workload, providing recommendations for budget/resource requirements to meet future workload and project needs. Ensures business processes are streamlined, documented, and cascaded to team members.
**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Finance, Business, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field. Accounting designation would be preferred or working toward designation.
Experience
- 4+ years of experience in accounting.
- 1+ years of progressive managerial, supervisory or project management experience.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Demonstrated advance experience working with transactional services for all liabilities, assets, revenues, and expenses, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of financial management systems and best practices.
- Strong judgement and discretion in the frequent handling of sensitive transactions.
- Strong budget management and cost control skills; able to address variances and manage ongoing risks while managing multiple deadlines / work processes.
- Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct).
- Specialized mathematical abilities; often pertaining to the field of study for the role (e.g., dispersion rates, correlation calculations, descriptive statistics).
