POSITION TITLE: Direct Support Professional

TYPE OF ADVERTISEMENT: Contract - Fixed term

SALARY: $27.15 per hour

**ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Valid G class driver’s license
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check within 12 months
- Valid Driver's Abstract within 3 months
- **EXPERIENCE**:

- Substantive experience in supporting people who are Deaf, have an intellectual disability, trauma, dual diagnosis, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, aggressive behavioural challenges and self-injurious behaviour
- Experience in providing personal care
- Case Management experience essential
- Experience in fulfilling leadership roles
- Knowledge and experience in developing and facilitating Individual Support Plans in cooperation with Support Networks
- Demonstrated experience in utilizing computer software for data collection and other purposes
- Demonstrated experience in utilizing NVCI (CPI) techniques
- Experience in administering and managing medication
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with adaptive communication

**ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- Ability to complete basic household duties including cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
- Demonstrated ability to follow and create menu plans
- Ability and willingness to participate in activities that reflect individualized interests
- Demonstrated success in adapting to a variety of people, situations and environments
- Ability to show innovative and progressive attitude with a commitment to the enhancement of Personal Outcome Measures
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and ability to use it to communicate with others
- Knowledge of Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Proven ability of being highly motivated, creative and flexible person
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks while juggling multiple schedules in a busy environment.
- Ability to support a number of people with diverse needs and abilities at any given time
- Knowledge of Employee responsibilities in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Proven ability to present an image of professionalism and have a positive impact when communicating
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to problem solve and have good organizational skills
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proven ability to develop and implement behaviour protocols with extensive data collection, while working with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Proven ability to provide supports using a Person-Centred Approach
- Ability to assist team members with carrying out developed protocols

- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- DCS / DEC (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Class G Licence (required)
