**Sik-Ooh-Kotoki Friendship Society Outreach Youth Coordinator**

**Term Position: April 1, 2024 -January 31, 2025 Job Description**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Outreach Youth Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and implement the Outreach Youth activities. The Outreach Youth Coordinator will strive to ensure the success of urban Indigenous Youth both culturally and academically in the school systems.**

**Duties**

► Coordinate and plan cultural activities for urban Indigenous youth in the Lethbridge school systems,

► Coordinate and plan cultural awareness activities at the schools to promote awareness, understanding and inclusiveness of the Indigenous Youth,

► Assist in providing academic supports such as tutoring to Indigenous Youth,

► Lobby for lunch supports for Indigenous Youth.

► Develop and/or provide (outsourcing) cultural sensitivity training to the school staff.

► Design pamphlets and posters for advertisement.

► Research and recommend activities that promote success in academics.

► Connect student from the Lethbridge schools to the Friendship programs and activities.

► Set up a student technical resource lab, laptops for assignments, resumes, job coaching and other supports.

► Will meet with the Indigenous liaison school staff and Indigenous students bi-weekly.

► Will report directly to Youth Program Manager.

**Qualifications**

**1. **Preference will be given to applicants with Post Secondary Education in Recreation and Education.

**2. **Experience working with Youth.

**3. **Must have excellent computer skills.

**4. **Must be reliable, consistent, and work well in a team environment.

**5. **Must be able and willing to work with the public, youth and outside agencies.

**6. **Must possess excellent communication & presentation skills.

**7. **Knowledge of Indigenous culture, knowledge of the Blackfoot language and culture is an asset.

**8. **Must be able to work flexible hours and volunteer hours.

**Other Requirements**

**1. **Valid class 5 Alberta Drivers License and own vehicle.

**2. **Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check & Driver's Abstract
