**Hourly rate**: $18.67 - $19.84 depending on experience.

**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Supports core members through individual plans, meaningful daily activities, and active participation in all aspects of daily life.
- Supports creative, joyous, and well-planned celebrations representative of program members.
- Ensures all personal care and routines of core members are done with best practices to a high standard.
- Listens and responds to core members changing desires and needs.
- Ensures core members know their schedule and are involved in daily decision making.
- Promotes independence and responsibility and teaches core members to build skills and achieve independently rather than “doing for.”
- Ensures core members participate in work placements that are life giving and suitable to capabilities and goals for growth and contributing.

**Requirements and Person Specification**:

- Previous experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Desire to live as part of an intentional Community.
- Ability to work under own direction and take initiative.
- Displays qualities related to extroversion and a 'Can Do' attitude.
- Commitment to the principles of the Human Rights Remedy being implemented in Nova Scotia and a willingness to be flexible and open to change as we adapt our practices to become more person centred.
- Commitment to helping people develop new skills and greater independence.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Knowledgeable about L’Arche history, values, and vision.
- Proven team working ability.
- Open to learn and grow; able to give and receive feedback.
- Valid Nova Scotia Drivers License and ability to drive.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Ability to lift 25 kg
- Ability to walk up to 5km per day.
- Pre-employment requirements: Criminal reference check (vulnerable sector)

**Working Conditions**
- In home, day program, and wider community settings
- Supporting people who may exhibit behavior which challenges
- Working in group settings including communal events with many people in attendance

**Licenses & Certifications**: Required
- CPR Certified
