**Job Intro**

Housing Support Worker is primarily responsible for helping clients attain and maintain safe and secure housing.

**Typical Work Day**

**Responsibilities**
- Conducts intake, assessments, and provide support to clients on housing-related issues through walk-ins or appointments
- Engage with clients and landlords in the community to address housing concerns
- Liaise and develop relationships with landlords and property managers
- Assist clients in securing both temporary and permanent housing options
- Education, advocating and collaborating to develop creative solutions
- Connect clients to community resources, supports and meaningful activities as required and are fully informed of all programs
- Work collaboratively with all team members and partnering agencies to achieve desired excellent service and outcomes
- Maintain detailed case notes, progress reports, and client files, ensuring compliance with program requirements

**Requirements**:
**What's Most Important**

**Qualifications**:

- Social Science Bachelor's Degree or diploma in related field
- Experience in one or both would be an asset (building transitional housing or developing programs)
- Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts of physical and emotional abuse, mental health, homelessness, and poverty
- Experience working in housing, or in the homelessness sector an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, multi-task conflicting demands, meet deadlines, and work independently
- Knowledge of local community resources
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Word
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License & Clean Drivers Abstract

A Roof Over Your Head is a non profit organization that supports folks who are experiencing homelessness or are precariously housed. We advocate for safe, accessible and affordable housing in Antigonish and Guysborough. Our Mission is to provide individuals housing supports and services that include funding, navigation, advocacy, and education. Our long term vision is to develop homelessness prevention programming for individuals and families seeking emergency supports and services that will tie into offering individuals and families transitional housing opportunities as a stepping stone to secure safe and reliable long term housing.
