**The Field Researcher position supports the Dr. Sean Carey's initiatives in Yukon Territory and will be directed through McMaster University. The positions, which will be co-located with Yukon Environment’s Water Resource department, will help maintain, collect and analyze hydrological and meteorological instrumentation and assist in coordinating Global Water Futures field research programs throughout Yukon Territory.**:
**Job Summary**:

- Responsible for providing research support by collecting field samples, conducting experiments and analyzing data.
- Provides expertise to students and lab personnel on proper use of equipment.
- Requires specialized knowledge in a specific field of research.
- Responsible for managing Yukon Government - McMaster University partnership

**Accountabilities**:

- Conduct field surveys and collect field samples for experimental research.
- Gather, summarize and analyze data.
- Conduct research experiments, observe details and keep accurate records of experiments and results.
- Recognize and investigate reasons for deviations in experimental and research results obtained.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of research projects and experiments.
- Analyze current experimental configurations and recommend changes and modifications to projects and experiments.
- Analyze and evaluate test results and provide advice regarding the direction of future experiments.
- Provide advice to graduate students and colleagues with regards to process steps for conducting analyses.
- Write methods and scientific interpretations sections of peer-reviewed journal articles.
- Coordinate equipment usage in the laboratory.
- Create databases to store data and perform statistical analyses.
- Summarize data and prepare technical reports based on research findings.
- Attend and participate in research group meetings.
- Maintain inventory of materials, supplies and equipment parts.
- Calibrate machinery, both manually and electronically, and prepare samples for analyses.
- Conduct database, literature and web searches to locate documents and articles used for reference on various projects.
- Remain up-to-date with advances in current and related fields of research.
- Respond to project inquiries and exchange technical information with internal and external colleagues
- Direct day-to-day management of a formal Yukon Government - McMaster University research partnership.
- Direct the daily management of a new research program in Faro, Yukon with the federal government. including coordinate the field safety procedures, develop scope of work documents, develop and submit budgets.
- Directly conducting research experiments for graduate students who were not allowed to travel to Yukon.
- Basic maintenance of vehicles
- Coordination of safety procedures and training certification for all McMaster graduate students and employees working in Yukon.

- Masters degree in Environmental Sciences or related field, an asset
