Job Summary

BRIMM is expanding our research and education partnerships to mining industry organizations around the world. To do this, we seek an experienced, people and business-focused individual to liase with members of the mining sector to develop research partnerships, facilitate course enrollments, and develop scholarship programs with private and public sector sponsors.

Initially, the Education Program Developer will be responsible for running the developing the Decarbonization micro certificate program and collaborate with other programs such as Economic Leadership and Mine Closure. These projects will be reviewed by the Business Development Coordinator and the BRIMM Director on a quarterly basis, and upon agreement by both parties, new projects may be added to their scope during these planning meetings.

Organizational Status

This position reports directly to the BRIMM Director and works closely with all BRIMM and Mining Education instructors, staff, and faculty.

Work Performed

Perform business-to-business work on behalf of BRIMM Mining Education with industry members by developing and implementing plans to:

- Develop the new Decarbonization micro-certificate program by meeting with third party industry members, coordinating with instructors regarding course material, and coordinating with platform experts to facilitate the program
- Increase the number of active industry partnerships covering research and education through building corporate relationships
- Establish and carry out a strategic plan for micro-certificate programs to facilitate growth and success
- Fosters relationships with potential players and key decision-makers in the market
- Conducts research and market analysis on competitor activity and trends
- Liaises with internal stakeholders on product development and delivery to ensure a high-level client experience
- Implements and executes an effective workflow and process to efficiently outreach to new clients and grow business with existing clients.
- Manage the ongoing Economic Leadership micro-certificate program
- Generate external interest in BRIMM research and mining education programs through advertising, social media, promotion and events;
- Develop proposals to win research and education contracts for new programs;
- Manage and coordinate agreements and contracts between UBC’s legal team and legal partners;
- Secure Senate Approvals for micro-certificates framed under UBC policies;
- Develop budgets and manage spending for the Decarbonization and Economic Leadership microcertificates
- Create monthly financial reports
- Collaborate on planning and execution of BRIMM events such as special courses, webinars, etc.
- Other related duties

Consequence of Error/Judgement

The incumbent in this role must exercise a high degree of confidence, autonomy, and independence while working within broad guidelines. A very high standard of professional communication is required. BC. Poor decisions or lack of tact, diplomacy, or sensitivity in dealing with industry contacts could result in missed opportunities, damaged relationships, and significant loss of credibility for BRIMM and UBC. Additionally, this position will manage student data and will be responsible for ensuring that all UBC privacy requirements are met to prevent a significant loss of credibility and respect for the program.

Supervision Received
