The Opportunity

The International Transition and Settlement Specialist is responsible for developing, and implementing support initiatives and programming for incoming and outgoing international students. This position serves as point of contact with various on and off campus stakeholders, working closely with them to identify best services, practices and programs available to international students.
This position provides support to the Manager, International Student Support, and will work closely with International Transition and Settlement Specialist who supports mainly incoming students and other support team members. Specifically, this position will support and deliver Community and Service Fair and other programming in the month leading into each semester to prepare students for settling in Canada successfully. Additionally, this position will work on programming transitioning international learners out of their academic journey in the last month of their studies.

Particular focus will be on the continued growth within these program areas. Building and maintaining critical relationships with key stakeholders in the community, as well as the ability to quickly and effectively plan and implement programming for newcomers and incoming and outgoing international students. Some occasional evening or weekend work will be required.

The Role
Program Development
Collaborate across departments, services, and programs to develop new initiatives and promote student engagement.
Seeks out and develops community and settlement partnerships to secure high quality, diverse, expert learning strategies programming.
Seeks out and develops partnerships with corporations that offer programming, resources and services for newcomers.
Works closely with Transition and Settlement Specialist for incoming students to develop a full circle of transition programming for newcomers and international learners (transitioning in, through and out)
Provide resources to assist Academic Chairs, faculty and staff in student retention (e.g. Student Resource Directory, SAITNOW content) including development of training for faculty, staff and academic chairs.
Able to capture, manage, analyze and report on program data and to provide recommendations based on the evidence available to be able to analyze and respond to arising and changing transitional trends and needs based on current geopolitical situations and update leadership with the findings and results.
Research & Skill Development
Research, develop, implement and evaluate a strong student experience programming that includes collaborations with internal stakeholders to aid international students as they prepare to start or finalize their academic and student journey. Example of programming can include but not limited to:
Community and Service Fair
Transition Programming from student life to workforce
Track the outcomes of student engagement initiatives and use the data to make data informed decisions on future programming.
Research best practices to inform program development and evaluation of transition programs.
Identify campus practices that lead or contribute to student attrition, develop and implement strategies to eliminate those practices and/or mitigate the effects of those practices on student success and retention.
Program Coordination and Facilitation
Develop communications plans to promote and engage newcomers and internationals students
Attend department leadership and program meetings to raise awareness of the transition and settlement program for new and outgoing students
Facilitate the delivery of PR Ceremony on annual basis
Ensure each core focus area of the program is delivered in an efficient and effective matter best suited for newcomers and new/ outgoing international learners
Facilitates the development and coordination of integrated learning strategies programs in collaboration with targeted schools and student services units.
Qualifications & Experience

**Required Qualifications**:
3 years (minimum required; 5 years’ experience preferred) current experience in working with students, with a particular focus on developing programming for newcomers and international students
Strong relationship building and maintaining capacity both with not for profit and for profit stakeholders
Experience developing transition programming that places an emphasis on cultural adaptation, entering workforce and transition out of student life
Responsible with the ability to adapt quickly to rapidly changing circumstances and deadlines
Proficiency in Microsof
