**About the Role**:
As a Field Technician / Utility Locating Technician at Municon West Coast, you’ll be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking team. In this role, you will utilize advanced geophysical equipment like Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetic (EM) scanners, and geophones to locate underground utilities, interpret findings, and deliver comprehensive data and reports to support construction and engineering projects. Our technicians work closely with civil and geotechnical engineers, ensuring clients receive accurate, reliable information.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Identify and locate underground utilities and provide clearance for sub-surface investigation using scientific methods.
- Perform concrete scans to identify reinforcing steel.
- Retrieve as-built utility or building information from private owners, utility commissions, municipal databases, or other GIS services
- Process data to prepare detailed CAD as-built drawings for construction projects
- Write detailed technical memos, letters and reports.
- Schedule and coordinate field work with subcontractors and other technicians and co-consultants.
**What We’re Looking For**:
- Diploma or degree in a related technical field (e.g., civil engineering, geology, environmental science)
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license; access to a reliable vehicle for site visits (mileage reimbursed)
- Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD and BlueBeam
- Strong analytical skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in diverse weather conditions and environments
- Experience in utility locating or a related field and familiarity with GPR systems is a strong asset
