**Background**:
The Durham College Centre for Cybersecurity Innovation was launched in March 2020 to offer industry partners access to applied research and development services, including technical expertise, state-of-the-art facilities and platforms, and student talent. Located at the Oshawa Campus, the Centre for Cybersecurity Innovation collaborates with industry clients to deliver innovative cybersecurity solutions to pressing business problems and opportunities. Projects include producing and testing prototypes, evaluating new technologies, and developing new or improved products or processes, particularly for small
- and medium-sized businesses. Funded by provincial and federal government grants, all projects are intended to assist clients in product development, technology adoption, expansion into new markets, and commercialization of new products, services and processes.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- In collaboration with the director of applied research, develop and execute a strategic and operational plan for growing cybersecurity research activities.
- Build alliances with internal and external stakeholders including college employees, other academic partners, industry partners, funders, and government agencies and community organizations to support Durham College’s research objectives.
- Execute a business development strategy to identify new partnership opportunities, define new research projects, and effectively close project agreements.
- Promote the expertise and capacity of the Centre and develop a pipeline of potential industry partners.
- Monitor and assess program performance with a focus on key metrics.
- Manage the Centre’s financial operations in accordance with college policy and external funder requirements.
- Accountable for the initiation, execution and successful completion of funded research projects in the Centre.
- Provide technical guidance on complex cybersecurity requirements.
- Ensure that all projects and other activities are in compliance with regulatory and financial requirements, including approval processes, ethics, data management, and health and safety.
- Recruit, hire, and manage employees, assign work, allocate resources, and optimize team performance and professional capacity.
- Promote and support an environment that encourages productivity, innovation, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism.
- Organize industry events, present at conferences, and undertake other activities to promote available services and support technology diffusion.
- Serve as a point of contact for providing content for social media/media releases.
- Ensure proper documentation practices for all research activities.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A masters degree in cybersecurity, computer science, technology and/or related field.
- Three to five years of relevant industry experience and demonstrated ability in fields and technologies relevant to cybersecurity project opportunities.
- Previous experience working with research organizations and/or the academic community.
- Proven relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders that lead to business development results. Able to engage effectively with senior business leaders and act as a bridge to clearly communicate the value of complex technologies. Well networked with related industry associations is an asset.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
