Salary and Benefits: An annual salary of $62,046.40-$95,472.00 (Group I, 2023 rates); along with a competitive benefits package complete with extended health, dental and travel benefits, access to an Employee and Family Assistance Plan, and enrollment in OMERS (Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System) pension plan.

The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the effective operation of equipment and machinery within our Environmental Services facilities. This includes preparing, scheduling, and documenting preventative maintenance programs for a range of systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, electronics, and instrumentation. Collaborating with our Lead and/or Maintenance Superintendent you will actively receive and prepare work orders while providing recommendations regarding equipment maintenance and repair. Additionally, overseeing contractors, providing guidance, training, and direction as needed, and will be responsible for ordering parts and services approved by the Lead Mechanic.

Being innovative in the event of spills, the Technician will respond as a member of the Environmental Services Spills Response team, adhering to established routines and provincial agency regulations. This includes researching the cause, containing the spill, securing the site, and notifying regulatory agencies.

Alongside operating a variety of equipment and tools, the Technician will conduct inspections, liaise with inspectors, sales representatives, the public, and monitor contract work to ensure compliance with job and industry specifications. Striving for continuous improvement in operations and work processes, emphasizing workplace safety and environmental practices.

**Qualifications**

Position Requirements
- Certificate of Qualification from Skilled Trades Ontario (Electrician or Industrial Millwright preferred)
- Minimum of one (1) year of related experience
- Valid Class G Driver’s License with an abstract acceptable to City guidelines

The successful applicant will be required to complete the following training, at the City’s expense:

- Ontario Water Wastewater Certification Office (OWWCO) Operator-in-Training (OIT) certification for Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection is required within the first six (6) months
- OWWCO Level 1 Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection Licence is required within the first three (3) years of employment

Demonstrated Skills and Abilities
- Competency in servicing installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment, machinery and tools
- Competency in reading and interpretation of maintenance / operation manuals, mechanical / electrical drawings, schematics and diagrams
- Working knowledge in the operation of heavy equipment and rigging methods for movement of heavy equipment, machinery and tools
- Building maintenance skills
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management principles as related to supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
- Clerical skills
- Ability to work in small, cramped areas and confined spaces to repair equipment
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements
