**The Opportunity**

This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.

Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, cardiometabolic, informatics and toxicology. Reporting to the Business Human Resources Manager the Human Resources Generalist (HRG) supports the Business Human Resources Manager (BHR-M) in the delivery of the various Abbott’s human resources programs and projects to the various departments of APOC’s manufacturing operations. Responsible for the implementation of the Human Resources processes, providing solutions for the needs of operations considering the HR’s corporate, country and local policies in the various HR functions as well as the current legislation.

**What You’ll Do**
- With mínimal general supervision by the BHR-M, the HRG is expected to assist, to coordinate or administer various aspects of the organization’s employee relations, compensation and benefit, training, engagement, and organization programs. The HRG is expected to make decisions around the parameters of established HR policies or practices in the Canada HR profession.
- The Generalist will operate in and be responsible for more than one of these areas and perform many of the same activities as professionals that specialize in these individual HR functions.
- Implements HR policies and guides managers and employees on the proper adherence to them.
- Supports employees and managers in navigating the global and local HR resources and processes to ensure that employees can maximize their benefits and utilize them for their development in the organization.
- Responsible for reviewing Short-Term and Long-Term Disability and provides advice on next steps and recommendation for action. Works with insurance providers and third-party medical assessment experts in assessing fitness to work.
- Partners with the HR broader team in Canada to assist in the review policies, programs and processes and provide feedback on their effectiveness, relevance, and value to the company’s operations.
- Responsible for HR’s information posted in the various intranet platform (myHR, Sharepoint) ensuring information is updated and accessible.
- Responsible for gathering, consolidating and as necessary reporting Employee Information for BHR Manger’s legal review or for submission to legal.
- Review and audits HRIS information (for the most part in WorkDay) to ensure that they are accurate and consistent with policies and readiness for regular HR processing (such as when WD data is used for Performance and Compensation Planning).
- Ensure an effective onboarding & orientation process in collaboration with the departments and those delivering the orientation.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree holder or with diploma with studies related to Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Payroll or other related studies.
- Canada HR designation will be an asset (CHRP / CHRL), or currently working towards designation.
- At least 5 years of relevant work in various facets of HR and has developed a specialization in two or more functions of HR. Having a developed capability in the Employee Relations function is an advantage.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills in dealing with various people at various levels of the organization complimented with the ability to facilitate productive discussions.
- Excellent English verbal and written communications. Excellence in French language will be considered an asset.
