Operations Manager (Maternity Leave Position)

Since 1936 Lancers has made horses and riding accessible to children in Halifax. As

Canada’s only urban non-profit riding school and equine therapy centre, our

mission is to build better lives through horses.

We currently have a 1-year term position opening for our Operations Manager. We

are looking for an individual with highly developed communication skills,

leadership qualities and the ability to assess priorities and respond in a dynamic

community. The successful applicant will be able to work independently and

proactively, be proficient with technology and have a high degree of

professionalism.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the primary job responsibility of the

Operations Manager is to take lead on most operations, with the exception of those

assumed by the Executive Director. They will work with the Board of Directors and

staff to facilitate and support the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This

includes, but is not limited to: Helping ensure the Board of Directors can meet

their objectives on an operational level, rider and parent communications,

employee communications, sponsorships and events, and community outreach.

This will include some administration and management of the Lancer newsletter,

website, Twitter, Facebook and other forms of social media. In addition, the

position is responsible for the administration of all programming related activities

including but not limited to our rider level program; registration for junior and

adult programs; in-house and off-site competitions; clinics; alumni events;
summer workshops; open houses; clothing orders; equine records; and parent

orientation.

The Operations Manager is responsible for supervising, managing and working

along with the Office Administrator and Office Administrative Assistant to ensure

all administrative requirements are met in a timely fashion.

The anticipated start date for this position is late March 2024.
