The Manitoba Indigenous Housing Capacity Enhancement & Mobilization Initiative (MIHCEMI) Working Group is here to develop safe, healthy and sustainable First Nation housing practices and standards; a forum to freely share best practices and information, to communicate effectively, honestly and transparently in partnership with governments, housing authorities, First Nations and Tribal Councils. MIHCEMI Working Group is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of regional strategies that support our First Nations in their goal to assess and address community-based housing. MIHCEMI Working group’s role is to gather community input, convey community needs and concerns, identify opportunities, and develop standards and deliverables for implementation by all Manitoba First Nations. The MIHCEMI Working Group in collaboration with Southeast Resource Development Council Corporation requires a MIHCEMI Project Coordinator, who under the direction of the Tribal Council Housing Advisor, will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the project activities as outlined in the MIHCEMI Working Group work plans.

**Duties**:

- Work in partnership with the MIHCEMI working group members to prioritize and implement regional needs.
- Meet with MIHCEMI working group members to discuss regional needs and support from ISC regional office.
- Schedule a discussion on the next steps in the implementation of the MIHCEMI project, funding parameters and requirements
- Facilitate Working Group sessions according to the terms of reference for the MIHCEMI.
- Review existing programs, research new trends and work with the MIHCEMI working group to develop a First Nation-specific training program on Basic Home Maintenance (Train the trainer program)
- Collaborate with the MIHCEMI Working group to seek volunteers to participate in the various Subcommittees, developed by the Working Group.
- Review existing engagement processes, research other regions and review programs, and explore potential partnerships.
- Assist in the coordination of all stages of project delivery including scoping, planning, design, procurement, implementation, commissioning, operations and maintenance, and evaluation.
- Provide information on projects as required including regular updates and status reports to feed into the project reporting system, and to the MIHCEMI Working Group members.
- Actively engage with project stakeholders and the broader community to ensure that projects appropriately respond to community needs and that they are kept informed of specific issues and the broader project delivery.
- Support the development of the annual MIHCEMI budgets, monitor expenditures and ensure projects and services relating to key responsibilities are within the budget set by management.
- Any other duties assigned

**Qualifications and skills**:

- At least 2 years of post-secondary education in a related field.
- Min 2 years experience in program/project management, event planning and work plan implementation.
- Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a community-based environment with high attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven experience (typically 1-3 years) in project coordination, preferably in the housing or community planning & development sector.
- Knowledge of financing techniques and feasibility analysis procedures.
- Strong public speaking techniques.
- Understanding of contract negotiation methods and legal procedures
- Must be proficient with the use of computers, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet usage.
