**Position Overview**

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic English Language Tutor to provide personalized language instruction to students between the ages of 6-9 and 10-13, targeting various proficiency levels. As an English Language Tutor, you will be responsible for developing age-appropriate lesson plans, delivering engaging and interactive lessons, and assessing student progress. Your primary goal will be to help students improve their English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while fostering a love for reading and debate.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop age-appropriate lesson plans: Create well-structured lesson plans that cater to the needs and interests of students within the 6-9 and 10-13 age groups. Incorporate interactive activities, games, and multimedia resources to make learning enjoyable and effective. Place a special emphasis on promoting reading and fostering critical thinking through debate.
- Deliver engaging lessons: Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to maximize student participation and interaction. Utilize age-appropriate teaching methods and techniques to engage young learners and maintain their interest. Encourage students to explore different genres of literature, engage in discussions, and develop their own opinions through structured debates.
- Assess student progress: Regularly assess students' language abilities through formative and summative assessments, taking into account their age and developmental stage. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help students identify areas for improvement and set achievable language goals. Evaluate their reading comprehension skills and ability to articulate arguments during debates.
- Adapt teaching strategies: Identify and address individual learning challenges and adjust instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of young learners. Utilize visual aids, props, and interactive materials to facilitate understanding and retention of language concepts. Incorporate reading activities that encourage independent reading and foster a lifelong love for books.
- Foster a love for English language learning and reading: Create a positive and nurturing learning environment that encourages students to develop a passion for the English language and reading. Introduce a variety of engaging and age-appropriate reading materials, encouraging students to explore different genres and authors. Facilitate book discussions and recommend books based on individual interests.
- Stay updated on language teaching methodologies: Stay abreast of the latest trends, research, and best practices in English language teaching for young learners, with a specific focus on promoting reading and debate skills. Attend professional development workshops or conferences to enhance your own teaching skills and expertise in teaching English to children.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field (preferred) or in the last year of English, Education, Linguistics degree program.
- Proven experience as an English language tutor or teacher for young learners.
- Excellent command of the English language with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with age-appropriate teaching methodologies and techniques for young learners.
- Ability to adapt instruction to different proficiency levels and learning styles.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with young students and their parents or guardians.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for teaching and promoting language learning in children.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing student needs and scheduling requirements.
- Familiarity with online tutoring platforms or virtual teaching tools is a plus.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 weeks

Pay: $17.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
