The Innovation Specialist is responsible for supporting the development of a comprehensive innovation strategy/pipeline and for translating the innovation strategy into action by managing the execution, including leading assigned innovation projects through the development and commercialization process. This role must partner cross-functionally with a wide group of teams to achieve objectives. The Innovation Specialist plays a key role in achieving our organizational objective of delivering sustainable growth through innovation projects.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.**

Innovation Strategy Support / Pipeline Development Support:

- Support the development of a multi-year innovation pipeline that aligns with organizational priorities.
- Monitor and mine key performance insights, consumer insights, the US portfolio and innovation pipeline, supplier innovation, and competitive portfolios for opportunities aligned with NWC priorities.
- Incorporate brand specific and retailer specific product problems to solve into the pipeline development.

Innovation Process Management / New Product Development / Project Management:

- Champion the consistent use of the innovation process and follow the process in projects that have been assigned to the Innovation Specialist to lead, balancing strategic rigor and executional practicality.
- Lead key innovation process meetings such as monthly approval meetings.
- Develop contingency plans to deliver plan/project objectives.
- Test product acceptability, including concept and sensory when appropriate and feasible.
- Build and maintain cross-functional relationships to achieve objectives. This work requires a high degree of cross-functional collaboration to be successful. These relationships are necessary with internal Canadian team members, internal US team members, suppliers (i.e. contractor team members, contract manufacturers), etc.

**Position Type/Expected Work Hours**

This is a full-time position. Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

**Required**: Undergraduate college degree in marketing, business, or a related science field. 5+ years of related experience in consumer-packaged goods marketing within the Food/Drug/Mass and/or Health Food Store channels.

- Strong cross-functional collaboration and leadership through product development and commercialization; strong influencing, facilitating alignment skills
- Proven ability to analyze the business and develop strategies and tactical plans that have driven business results
- A doer, who takes pride in seeing projects through from concept to on-shelf success
- Strong leadership, analytic skillset, planning, communication, and presentation skills
- Consumer understanding (positioning and insights)

- Financial planning with P&L management

- Superior written and communication skills
- Passion for the health and wellness space

**Preferred**: Master of Business Administration graduate degree. Marketing experience with a healthcare or supplements portfolio a plus. Direct experience developing and launching new products.

**TRAVEL**

This position required up to 15% domestic travel. Some international travel may be required.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS**

Demonstrated Proficiency in both verbal and written communication skills in English a must.
