PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Communications and Research Associate is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of communications strategies and conducting research to inform the decision-making and enhance our organization’s impact. This position requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to gather, analyze and present information effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist in the development and execution of Civiconnect’s communication plans to promote our organization’s mission, program and initiatives
- Provide administrative support as needed, including maintaining databases and organizing files and documents related to communications and research activities
- Organize and schedule meetings
- Write and research opportunities for the CEO
- Write and edit clear, compelling, and accurate content for various communication channels, including our website, social media, and press releases, to effectively reach target audiences
- Solicit and obtain letters of support
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to ensure messaging is consistent and in alignment with organizational goals and values
- Monitor media coverage and social media trends related to our organization and identify opportunities for proactive engagement and response
- Conduct research on relevant topics, trends, and best practices to inform strategic decision-making, program development and funding efforts
- Prepare reports, presentations and briefings summarizing research findings and the implications for Civiconnect
- Build and maintain networking connections
- Attend networking events and stand in for the CEO at networking events
- Coordinate outreach efforts and promotional activities to increase awareness and support of Civiconnect programs
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders through regular communication, meetings and events
- Provide administrative support to the CEO’s office as needed
- Other duties as required

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

- This position works within the CEO’s office
- This position reports directly to the CEO

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Willingness to learn.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Please Note: No prior experience is required, however, knowledge of the following is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree, diploma or equivalent in Communications, Journalism or related field
- Previous experience in communication, marketing or research roles
- Exceptional writing skills, able to edit and paraphrase others’ writing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be between 18-29 years of age.
- Must be enrolled in part-time or full-time studies at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Must be able to work full-time for a duration of 14 weeks.

You will need to provide certain administrative documents if offered employment including:

- Proof of ID (copy of Birth Certificate, Passport, Permanent Resident card).
- Proof of Enrollment letter from Registrar's office.
- Completed TD1 & TD1ON form.
- Direct deposit slip from a financial institution.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4 months

**Salary**: $630.00 per week
