If you answered yes, our Pinawa, Manitoba location is looking for a **Utility Worker Lead Hand** to assist in planning, assigning and leading a team of dedicated utility workings to perform work associated with general labor, grounds maintenance, removal of waste and clean-up and other duties as assigned. At Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), all employees perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety and regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (i.e. utilizing personal protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifying management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers or any other on the premises in a timely manner and in accordance with established reporting requirements.

**What will you be doing?**
- Observing all Plant Regulations, especially safety, health and radiation hazard control regulations.
- Following specific oral and written instructions.
- Instructing and coaching utility staff to maintain effective productivity.
- Assigning tasks and monitoring the quality of work.
- Coordinating and assisting with the management of staff leave.
- Providing mentorship, guidance and on-the-job training to crew members.
- Overseeing and coordinating the assigned work within their area of responsibility while ensuring the established weekly workload schedule is completed.
- Providing oversight of work, ensuring safe work practices are adhered to.
- Enhancing safety culture and organizational excellence through leadership accountability, communication and process improvement.
- Providing feedback to the Section Head, General Site Services on individual team members to ensure positive development and personal growth, sustaining the value-added proposition.
- Working with a minimum of guidance and direction from the Section Head, General Site Services, for the execution of the weekly workload scheduling and able to coordinate work activities within the department.
- Being involved in the Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) Site work planning process and job walk-downs.
- Following and enforcing company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
- Attending and providing input at work planning presentations (Plan of the Day, Maintenance planning and work management weekly meetings, Toolbox Talks).
- Initiating Work Permits and participating in pre-job briefs.
- Identifying work practice recommendations, including tools, methods, supplies and equipment to carry out tasks.
- Actively making correct decisions to maintain a safe and reliable workplace while supporting the project scope of work completion.
- Loading and unloading vehicles
- Carrying out disposal duties and picking up waste - active and inactive.
- Moving furniture, construction materials and other heavy items.
- Providing support for digging, excavating, and shoring.
- Carrying out landscaping functions as required.
- Clearing brush, ditches, and fire breaks.
- Carrying out road repair functions (potholes, crack sealing) as needed.
- Erecting fencing and barricades.
- Clearing snow; spreading sand on icy roads, walkways and entrances.
- Performing general site maintenance and grounds-keeping duties as directed, including operation of powered equipment, both hand-held and ride-on, such as Weed Trimmers, Industrial Leaf Blowers, Industrial Riding Grass Mowers, Tractor Powered Sickle Mower, Powered Soil Compactor, Chain Saws, Compressed Air Hammers and Scabblers, Industrial Self-Propelled Snow Blowers, Utility Task Vehicles (UTVs).
- Operating diamond drilling equipment, including use on scaffolds or other difficult locations.
- Providing trades assistance/support on work projects.
- Initiating judgement to organize and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records.
- Effectively communicate skills and maintains interpersonal relationships within the service areas as well as other stakeholders.
- Collaborating with other departments and other roles in the organization and contractors.
- Maintaining professionalism while having a questioning attitude.
- Accurately reports all incidents, near misses, and concerns in respect to the WL Reporting Program.
- Maintaining confidentiality in all matters
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.

**What we are looking for;**
- Must have completed grade 12 or equivalent.
- First Aid and/or CPR would be an asset.
- Knowledge of WHMIS training and the transportation of dangerous goods.
- Knowledge of Work Permits, Job Safety Analysis, Pre-job Briefs, Integrated Work Control and Stop Work Procedures.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s License or higher.
