**Job Summary**:

Reporting to the Manager, the Strategic Project Coordinator - Emergency Management facilitates the Department’s impact on emergency management through coordinating internal and external stakeholders on departmental or cross divisional or community partner driven projects and action.

**Education**:

- Post-secondary degree in disaster and emergency management or relevant discipline
- Master’s level training in a relevant discipline, such as disaster and emergency management, public administration, policy, planning or equivalent is preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
- Incident Management System 100 and 200 certification is preferred

**Knowledge**:

- A minimum of 3 years of related experience working in an emergency management setting.
- Knowledge of project management tools/software, stakeholder engagement, and consultation principles and techniques
- Knowledge of the theories and principles of emergency management programming
- Research and evaluations skills to collect, analyze, synthesize, and report on assigned projects is preferred

**Responsibilities**:
**_ In order to facilitate and focus efforts on improving disaster resiliency, the position organizes stakeholder and emergency management implementation efforts through project charters, RFPs, work plan development and approvals, and transition plans leading from plan development to operation._**:

- Researches and recommends solutions, ensuring follow-up with groups or individuals assigned tasks or strategies etc.
- Facilitates work plans and broad based community and emergency management initiatives
- Defines deliverables and activities that support implementation of key strategic actions of multiple emergency management initiatives
- Develops benchmarks and metrics to monitor and evaluate deliverables
- Monitors program budgets as appropriate (e.g., funding proposals, RFPs).
- Performs analysis of data/applied research
- Coordinates and project manages departmental and cross divisional initiatives
- Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports to provide and track information, obtain input, present recommendations, and obtain management approval
- Identifies and defines project planning and implementation issues, needs, and resources (i.e financial and human resource requirements).
- Builds partnerships with divisions to organize and coordinate efforts and identify gaps and reconcile variances in meeting requirements

**_ Builds and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to engage them in the Department’s objective to make an impact on disaster resiliency._**:
