Housing Coordinator

**HOURS - **Predominantly 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, with some evenings and weekends as required

The work of Good Shepherd is based on a fundamental belief in providing hope and restoring dignity to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. We are committed to integrating Harm Reduction practices into our programs and to prioritizing the rights, dignity, and choices of those who use substances. By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community's most marginalized members.

**How You Will Make an Impact**
- Receive referrals from internal and external sources
- Complete assessments and intakes for SSH and THSH Programs
- Planning and facilitation of public education and awareness initiatives
- Unit inspections
- Data collection, data base and client file maintenance
- Client support as required
- Submitting and coordinating work orders internally and externally
- Liaison with contractors, property managers, landlords, community partners
- Participate in team meetings
- Maintain confidentiality with regards to clients/staff and Centre's records
- Provide support to reception where required
**What You'll Bring to Our Team**
- Post-secondary education in social services or a related field is required
- Strong knowledgeable of, and experience working with a range of issues impacting cis women, families and gender diverse individuals including, gender-based violence, homelessness, child witnessing, immigration, poverty, mental health and substance use
- Knowledge of the housing system in Hamilton, the Residential Tenancies Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code
- Demonstrated computer skills, including excel to create and maintain internal database(s) and spreadsheets, as well as complete necessary data collection and analysis
- Proven experience working from a person-centered, trauma-informed approach
- Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset
- CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
- Valid G license required
- Strong communication skills and experience in de-escalation strategies is required
