This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

Work takes place at Augustana Campus, Camrose AB. Anticipated start date will be July 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.

**Working for the Augustana Faculty**

Augustana enrolls over 1000 undergraduate students in baccalaureate degree programs on a residential campus in the city of Camrose, 90 kilometers southeast of Edmonton. The Campus is located on Treaty Six territory which provided a traveling route and home to the Cree, Blackfoot, and Metis, as it did for the Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina and Chipewyan, and other Indigenous peoples. Their spiritual and practical relationships to the land create a rich heritage and ongoing model for our learning and our life as a community.

The Faculty is committed to building on its reputation for academic rigour, high-quality teaching in the tradition of the liberal arts and sciences, and extensive opportunities for students in the areas of community service-learning, undergraduate research and place-based learning. Augustana offers a distinctive undergraduate experience characterized by an alternative academic calendar (“3-11”) and a common project-based core. **Minimum Qualifications**
- Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy
- Demonstrated potential for or record of effective and engaging undergraduate teaching
- Ability to develop an appropriate research program
- Ability to provide effective direction for the Augustana Hejse Astronomical Observatory
- Experience in observational astronomy

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Working experience in an astronomical observatory
