**Role Responsibilities**:
The role of the Systems Planning Branch (SPB) is to articulate the redesign of the current health planning system, using data and evidence driven assessments to inform provincial health system decisions and delivery. SPB collaborates across the Ministry on items including setting priorities and outcomes for the four new healthcare agencies that have been established as part of health system refocus.

In addition, the SPB will work with communities on business planning and community innovation projects that align with improving health service delivery in the province.

Reporting to the Director, Systems Planning, the Systems Planning Manager is responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and evaluating complex strategic initiatives related to system planning within the scope of legislative and government/department policy. The position is responsible for providing leadership and support on key initiatives, including the development of an integrated health system plan.. The position will oversee initiatives to ensure integration with Alberta Health's mandate, other divisions in Alberta Health, and other ministries.

The Systems Planning Manager manages the team's operations and leads and participates on cross-ministry, departmental, and external stakeholder teams. The position also collaborates with executive and key senior management in Alberta Health, other ministries, and key external stakeholders, such as the four provincial health agencies to achieve the SPB's deliverables.

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee the development and implementation of the integrated health system plan and other branch priorities.
- Provide timely and comprehensive feedback on staff deliverables, including Minister/Deputy meeting materials, briefings and presentations, taking a strategic lens to ensue materials address the request.
- Ensure that strategic projects are fully scoped and planned in alignment with identified project goals to clearly articulate project expectations to all participants and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships to achieve consensus on strategic system initiatives and plans that are aligned with government objectives and mandates
- Effectively support issues management and manage communications on a broad range of system planning issues, clearly and accurately communicating complex issues and perspectives tailored to a wide range of audiences.
- Develop and implement operational plans in alignment with branch plans and department priorities, monitoring and adjusting coverage and work assignments to meet unit priorities.
- Monitor and assess project deliverables and impacts against goals and develop and implement mitigation strategies as needed
- Provide effective leadership, direction and oversee projects and assignments within the team.
- Foster a positive team environment, strong staff engagement and a culture of holistic and strategic thinking about team functions and how they impact current and future branch priorities and operations.
