**The Opportunity**

**Supervisor of Growth Management - Permanent Full-Time Vacancy**

Under the general guidance and direction of the Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Policy, and Analysis, the Supervisor of Growth Management is responsible for leading, researching and supporting the department's growth management coordination and monitoring efforts, strategic initiatives and continuous improvement priorities; including identifying opportunities to increase the effectiveness of the department in meeting its goals and targets. This position is responsible for coordinating, overseeing and monitoring the implementation of the city-wide growth management strategy. This position provides functional, technical and professional advice and guidance to Senior Management Staff, City Council, City departments, external agencies, consultants, landowners/developers and the general public related to the coordination of land use planning and development approvals and processes to ensure that efficient, sustainable and functional land development occurs across the City. Overall this position plays an integral role in contributing to, and building the foundation for effectively managing future growth and development of land within the City of Barrie, to support a strong and competitive economy; to build a compact, vibrant and complete community; and to create a sustainable future for the City while addressing provincial and City growth management initiatives.

**Supervisor of Growth Management (Housing) - Temporary Full-Time Vacancy up to 3 Years**

Under the general guidance and direction of the Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Policy, and Analysis, the Supervisor of Growth Management (Housing) position is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, project managing and monitoring the implementation of the City of Barrie’s Housing Accelerator Fund Action Plan. This position provides functional, technical, and professional advice and guidance to elected officials, Senior Management Staff, City Council, City Departments, external agencies, consultants, landowners/developers and the general public related to housing policy and the coordination of land use planning and development approvals and processes. Overall, this position plays an integral role in contributing to shaping the City of Barrie’s housing strategy and building the foundation for effectively managing future growth development of land within the City of Barrie, to support a strong and competitive economy; to build a compact, vibrant and complete community; and to create a sustainable future for the City while addressing provincial and City growth management initiatives.

- Four (4) year University Degree in Urban Planning, Geography or related discipline

**Experience**
- Five (5) years of experience performing duties related to the major responsibilities of the Supervisor of Growth Management position including demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience preparing, applying, and interpreting planning documents and regulation instruments
- Demonstrated experience in effective change management techniques, strategic planning, operational planning, presentation, group facilitation, and project management
- Demonstrated experience within a land-use and development planning municipal or related work environment
- Demonstrated experience in making oral presentations before City Council, Committees, organizations, and groups
