**The Opportunity**:
The primary tasks for the Research Manager would be as follows:

- Writing

Draft Research Ethics Board submissions (writing a research summary, consent forms, and background research).
Prepare draft presentations and posters relating to research.
- Recruitment

Introduce research participation opportunities to children and families,
Create and use novel recruitment ideas to engage potential participants,
Obtaining consent from patients and parents,
Update office website and twitter account.
- Project Coordination

Initiate clinical trials and observational research studies related to pediatric gastroenterology,
Coordinate procedures during study visits per the protocol,
Maintain study essential documents,
Develop study budgets and conduct budget negotiations with stakeholders.
- Office Coordination

Serve as primary contact for the Gastroenterology Research Group at IWK Health,
Office administrative duties, such as preparing and submitting forms to Human Resources and purchasing supplies,
Review study budgets,
Lead weekly office meetings for staff and study doctor(s),
Support and provide consultation to other research staff.
- Biological Sample Collection

Coordinate collection of biological samples from study participants, including blood, stool, urine and colon tissue samples.
Perform minor sample processing techniques (i.e., tube transfers) and oversee storage of biological samples in a laboratory,
Prepare shipments of biological samples.
- Data Management

Oversee the maintenance of SPSS and other databases and conduct simple and complex descriptive and inferential data analyses,
Maintain research-related sections of investigator’s curriculum vitae and Canadian Common CV.

**Hours of Work**:
37.5 hours/week), Monday to Friday, although flexibility is required (e.g., some evenings or weekends may be required depending on the nature of on-going projects and deadlines). Some out of province travel may be required in order to receive training or presentation purposes.

**Your Qualifications**:

- University Bachelors degree in Psychology, Biology, or a related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Five years of recent related experience in a research environment required.
- Experience working with children is an asset.
- Completion of the Certification Program for Clinical Research Professionals is an asset.
- High degree of computer literacy including familiarity with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.) is required,
- Working Knowledge of, SPSS data analysis packages, and Internet resource use, is required with expectation of using these software programs to generate and maintain databases, design figures and graphs, create posters, etc.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing along with supervisory skills of staff and students
- Working independently with mínimal supervision and also collaboratively within a team structure with prioritization and time management skills to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Strong problem solving skills.
