The Ungava Tulattavik Health Center is located in Kuujjuaq and offers the whole health and social services in the eastern part of Nunavik. Serving seven Inuit communities with an equal number of CLSC, a center for the elderly and the hospital in Kuujjuaq, it employs approximately 1,000 employees: administrators, professionals, doctors, dentists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, support staff, etc.

Nunavik communities are located north of the 55th parallel where a subarctic climate prevails. It implies the existence of permafrost allowing no agriculture. Nunavik is the largest region covering about a third of the total area of Quebec. No road link exists between the communities of Nunavik and southern Quebec, and between Nunavik communities themselves. We have access to the region and its communities by air travel and by boat.

DUTIES:
Under the authority of the Coordinator of Auxiliary Services, the person ensures the smooth running of the operations of his department. She ensures the sound management of the human, material, financial and informational resources under her responsibility. The person exercises her leadership in a context of transformation and continuous improvement and participates in the administration, operation and development of the institution in accordance with Regional and departmental orientations and the achievement of expected results.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains the services under his/her responsibility;
Maintains contracts and agreements with security agencies;
Plans work schedules, assigns tasks and ensures the proper performance of department employees and contract employees.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluates and recommends to her supervisor the revision or change of systems and processes to improve the productivity of activities under his/her responsibility;
Proposes objectives for the activities under his/her responsibility, develops the means to achieve them, establishes evaluation and control mechanisms, and submits an action plan to her immediate superior for approval;
Ensures the follow-up of periodic statistics;
Ensures the follow-up of the performance indicators of the activities of his department;
May be called upon to replace managers or professionals for short periods;
May be required to travel to other Nunavik communities.

Will act as an on-call administrator.

**Qualifications**
Undergraduate degree in administration or any other appropriate discipline;
Security guard training, OMEGA, WHMIS or other relevant training will be considered an asset;
Experience in a management position is an asset;
Significant experience in a field related to security or transportation could offset any of the requirements.

Mobilizing leadership;
Problem solving skills in conflict situations, negotiation skills;
Ability to analyze and synthesize;
Bilingualism in spoken and written English/French is essential; knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;
Good ability to adapt to an isolated environment, to work with an Aboriginal clientele and personnel

**Conditions and benefits**

COMPENSATION: Working conditions shall be those applicable to middle managers of the Health and Social Services network.

SALARY CLASS 36 : Minimum $74,481/year Maximum $96,826/year

Isolation premium: $10,627/year or more, as per family status

High cost of living premium: $3,870/year or more, as per family status

Retention Premium: $6,000/year or more, depending on number of years of service
