Reporting to the Ethical Buying Manager, the Print and Packaging Buyer undertakes the following

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Procure and develop a portfolio of print and packaging items, and develop short, mid and long term purchasing strategies that align with business objectives, adhere to ethical standards and ensure supply availability for both factories.
- Research and develop a robust deep supplier portfolio to meet the needs of our seasonality and new packaging initiatives.
- Collaborate with your team and contribute to the North American buying team deliverables and objectives of the business.
- Network and build industry contacts and expertise on material portfolio, hold a strong knowledge base on potential risks and ethical challenges or best practice.
- Coordinate packaging requirements and communicate work back schedules for launching new and seasonal products across multiple groups, including graphics, manufacturing, digital and UK team.
- Contribute on special projects as needed, such as annual cost projects, forecasting meetings and presentations.
- Identify cost savings and areas of opportunity, and negotiate improved terms of supply and price.
- Ensure quality control and material compliance according to Lush's Non Animal Testing Policy and GMP practices in collaboration with Quality Assurance
- Support and guide the procurement team members in their portfolios.
- Work with global buyers to coordinate and optimize global supply resilience.
- Work closely with the global packaging team to ensure consistent global design.
- Work with the Brand Communications team on the overall brand standards and quality artwork, and upholding this with our printers and packaging suppliers.
- Work with the sustainability team to develop improved green packaging options.
- Visit suppliers to deepen relationships and understand the supply chain.
- Establish targets, track progress, and report on results
- Support and collaborate with different departments as needed: Charity Pot, Sustainability, Brand, Retail, Digital, Finance and Manufacturing

**You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Required**:

- 5+ years of experience in supply chain and buying experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in printing
- Strong understanding of printing principles of offset lithography, flexography, or digital print required
- Strong knowledge of materials including paper, corrugate, plastics or labels
- Critical thinking skills in ethics and problem solving
- A commitment to ongoing learning and open to work through difficult complex issues
- Accustomed to working in a highly seasonal, high pressure production environment
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and as part of cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams
- Proven team player and contributor to overall team success
- Experience working with suppliers & vendors
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally

**Preferred**:

- Knowledge or expertise in ERP systems: Microsoft AX
- University or College Degree in a similar or related field
- Experience working in a retail or similar work environment
