**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The Technical Consultant provides consulting services for private and public sector projects. Under the supervision of senior and intermediate staff, the Technical Consultant will work on a variety of tasks related to Emergency Management, Fire and Life Safety services. This position requires an outgoing individual that will work closely with clients to develop and implement safety plans that satisfy the safety objectives that are required by codes and standards.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**
- Project administration and coordination
- Attend client meetings and meetings with Authorities Having Jurisdiction
- Develop Emergency Plans and Business Continuity Plans
- Fire Safety Plan preparation
- Prepare and conduct Emergency Response, Incident Management System, and Fire Warden training sessions
- Research, design, coordinate, and facilitate emergency exercises and evacuation drills; produce reports
- Proposal preparation
- Conduct research based on codes, standards, and best practices
- Conduct risk assessments and audits (Security Audits, Threat Risk Assessments, and Hazardous Identification Risk Assessments)
- Travel as required to client sites
- Assist Finance with project billing

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- University or College program related to Fire Safety, Disaster and Emergency Management, and/or Security
- Knowledge of the fire protection, life safety, emergency management and security including familiarity with building/fire/life safety codes, standards, and best practices
- 2 years hands on experience in an emergency planning or security management role
- Able to obtain government security clearance
- Technically oriented with excellent attention to detail; critical thinker, good analytical and organizational skills; able to complete tasks and projects in established timelines
- Self-starter that exhibits a high level of initiative and resourcefulness
- An individual with high standards who holds themselves accountable
- Adaptable and able to manage varying workloads
- A real team player with a positive attitude
- Comfortable with public speaking
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Bilingual in English and French would be an asset
