The Community Justice Worker is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the Community Service Orders for Adults 18+ for London/Middlesex and Strathroy. A community service order is a court ordered sanction within a probation order or conditional sentence, under which an individual must perform a specific number of community work hours within a specific time frame. The program involves accused persons being held accountable through community-based sanctions.
- Facilitate and promote the Community Service Order Program.
- Obtain and Process Referrals, Intakes and Completions.
- Seek and maintain appropriate Community Placements.
- Liaise with Probation Services and Community Partners.
- Prepare/submit case notes, court reports, attend meetings, prepare monthly and quarterly statistical forms for the Ministry of the Solicitor General and The Salvation Army as requested.
- Perform other position related duties as required.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Responsible for the co-ordination, facilitation, and promotion of the Community Service Order Program for London/Middlesex and Strathroy.
- Liaise with local Probation Offices to accept referrals, monitor hours, and report completions.
- Complete monthly CSO Reconciliation documentation
- Coordinate and document community placement sites and monitor and document completion of Community Service Hours based on client assessment of abilities, skills, interest, location, accessibility, transportation, and schedules.
- Liaise with community placement sites and Probation and Parole Officers implementing effective strategies to ensure successful compliance.
- Act as a Health and Safety Representative for the London Office.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
This is a permanent full-time position based on 35 hours per week Monday to Friday. Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities - some weekend and evening may be required.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:

- Completed two (2) or more years of Community College, i.e. Social Services Diploma or equivalent diploma is required.
- Degree in Social Services preferred.
- Ability to adhere to The Salvation Army Standards of Conduct and Code of Ethics
- Current First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certifications
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, own vehicle and insurance, a current copy of a driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

**EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience
- Working knowledge and experience of Restorative Justice Principals
- Working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Working knowledge of the area and community of London/Middlesex

**SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES**:

- Ability to work both independently and under co-operative supervision.
- Ability to relate to adults in group settings and one-to-one settings.
- Good public relation skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills and attentive and active listening skills; effective group skills
- Self-motivated and disciplined.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity, good judgment, and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
- Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening. Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
