**Position Summary**

**This is a remote position within Canada for the first 6-12 months after which time it will convert to a hybrid (2-3 days in office) position in Fredericton, N.B**.

Thales is looking for a **Cyber Defense Manager** that is responsible for the prevention of Cybersecurity incidents by real-time monitoring, detection, and analysis of potential intrusions. This includes using troubleshooting tools to analyze and respond to cyber threats, writing scripts to aid in quick analysis and response, and responding to security events. The position operates and tunes security tools, provides requirements for new security capabilities and creates use cases for monitoring. In addition, the position will be responsible for the delivery of the performance obligations to the customer in accordance with the contract and ensuring the customer’s satisfaction and fulfillment of service level agreements (SLA).

The Cybersecurity Operations Centre (CSOC) team will rely on your contribution to perform an in-depth analysis of evidence, identify the malicious operations and evaluate the real impact in order to solve in a quick and efficient manner. This is a key role when it comes to responding to customer’s security incidents, onboarding new customers, maintaining the CSOC’s infrastructure and continuous improvement. We are seeking for a motivated and structured leader with a strong focus on customer protection and satisfaction.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Fulfilling a dynamic and integral role to the CSOC environment, duties will include but not be limited to**:

- Responsible for the coordination and service delivery for internal and external customers.
- Ensuring appropriate governance is maintained across all areas of the Service - team lead, incident management, service delivery, change management, continual improvement, customer satisfaction and, CSOC availability and maintenance provision.
- Lead on customer onboarding projects to ensure a successful transition to CSOC for security monitoring services.
- You are a key player when it comes to onboarding new customers, interfacing with customer stakeholders, the operation of the CSOC service and its continuous improvement.
- Monitor overall performance of the services delivery team, identifying areas of improvement, efficiency, expansion or enhancement.
- Responsible for ensuring the CSOC services (people and technologies) continues to operate.
- Coordinate with the regional CSOC team for innovative improvements to our global SOC business.

**Manage day-to-day Cybersecurity Operation activities that includes but not limited to**:

- Lead and support the North America team with our Follow-the-Sun SOC services.
- Lead the tactical weekly meeting, monthly customer management meeting, and support the quarterly executive customer meetings.
- Capture customer’s requirements and recommend pragmatic solutions.
- Provide technical guidance to CSOC team technical analysis.
- Point of escalation for CSOC analysts in support of cybersecurity investigations.
- Lead threat-hunting activities, looking for anomalies. Ingest, analyze and contextualize data and turn that into intelligence for threat assessment and risk management.
- Contribute to the creation, update and distribution of incident response best practices to include response capabilities and recommendations to senior leadership when dealing with incidents that affect multiple platforms or business units.
- Quality control of reports and deliverables.
- Ensure security and compliance of CSOC infrastructure.
- Responsible for creating playbooks in order provide clear guidelines for staff on operational procedures during incidents/escalations.
- Lead and support continues improvement, tune SIEM, SOAR use cases, and assist in maintaining the CSOC platform.
- Create reports, presentations, architecture, workflow diagrams, and documentations.
- Lead technical workshops, and presentations of findings.
- Lead the designing, implementing, enhancement, and maintaining the CSOC platform (SIEM, log management systems, correlation engine, EDR, and SOAR).
