**Job Summary**
As a **Junior Legal Consultant**, you will support and assist the work of the Governance and General Counsel team in providing legal advice to NSCN in the areas of registration and licensing, education program approval, standards and guidance, professional conduct, governance and corporate/commercial matters such as privacy, contracts and employment. Under the direction of the Legal Consultant, you will conduct research, prepare and review legal documents and interpret contracts, legislation and policy

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide legal advice with respect to
- corporate commercial matters impacting NSCN including contracts and privacy law
- governance matters, including preparation of by-laws and board policy
- Research and summarize relevant case law
- Prepare legal memorandum, briefing notes, correspondence, policies and by-laws
- Monitor and summarize legislative initiatives impacting self-regulation in Nova Scotia and across Canada
- Collaborate with NSCN staff on projects, research and development of operational policy as required
- Develop and provide training to NSCN staff, the Board and regulatory committees

- Demonstrate the ability to offer creative and innovative solutions to complex challenges

**Education & Experience**:

- University degree in law
- At least two years of recent and relevant experience in the practice of law
- Experience working in administrative law and/or a regulatory environment considered an asset
- Maintains "practising lawyer" membership with the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society
