**Responsibilities***

Reporting to the Coordinator - School Office Support, the Specialist - School Finance will:

- Conduct scheduled school reviews to evaluate and assess accuracy and validity of school financial transactions, interfund balances, p-card purchases, and completes year-end school fund rollovers;
- Evaluate and assess school fundraising plans and fundraising activities;
- Develop and deliver training related to general school office processes, school financial systems and school communication tools;
- Provide guidance and support to school office administration in the use of board policies, procedures, and guidelines, including financial record management, records retention and school communications;
- Maintain internal controls and privacy associated with user access for school financial systems and provide system support, including SDS Via and School Cash/School Cash Online;
- Prepare final reporting for the consolidation of school finances for Board auditors;
- Monitor the record keeping and funding of various student registrations;
- Work in a professional manner in collaboration with principals, secretaries, central staff and other stakeholders in accordance with organizational and departmental expectations;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and Skills***
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Business, Commerce and/or related discipline, or equivalent;
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience;
- Related experience in public sector and/or with records management practices considered an asset;
- Experience with School Cash Online, SDS and Aspen considered an asset;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while handling a variety of tasks with multiple priorities and strict deadlines while maintaining attention to detail;
- Proven ability to think strategically and analytically;
- Strong organizational, time management and problem solving abilities;
- Proven interpersonal skills exhibiting diplomacy, constructive team-based skills and abilities;
- Proficiency in computer software programs, including MS Word and Excel;
- Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle as travel is required.
