**Responsibilities***

Under the general supervision of the Safety and Disability Administrator, this position promotes and maintains a healthy workplace by carrying out specific activities of the Disability Management Program. This position employs best practice principles in disability case management, early intervention, safe return to work and workplace accommodation to work in partnership with employees, supervisory staff and union representatives.
- Supporting the Disability Management Program, including receiving requests for medical leaves, triage leave requests, processing non-complex disability cases and escalating complex disability and accommodation cases as required to the Safety and Disability Administrator.
- Monitor, plan and review employee progress, collaborating with Safety and Disability Administrator as required to complete cases adhering to Disability Management Program guidelines.
- Contact employees on extended absences to ensure appropriate follow up as per the Disability Management Program as well as create, update and maintain leaves/accommodation files.
- Facilitate ongoing communication with the employee. Advising employees of allocation/entitlement of sick leave. Refer employees to external resources when necessary, such as EFAP, CarePath, Early Intervention.
- Assistance in identifying needs, assessing, and understanding medical restrictions, communicates options to facilitate early, safe return to work (RTW) and remain at work plans.
- Working closely with employees, supervisors/administrators, Unions and health care providers with respect to medical leaves.
- Collect and maintain various databases as well as prepare and produce a variety of reports to support Disability and Attendance Management programs.

**Qualifications and Skills***
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field (e.g. human resources, health/rehab science, ergonomics or other related fields) or equivalent related education and progressive years’ experience in disability management programs.
- Professional designation such as but not limited to; Disability Management Professional (CDMP), a Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP/L), Human Resources Certificate, Disability Management Certificate/Diploma is preferred.
- Three to five years experience with direct claims management (occupational and non-occupational).
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board Act, the Regulated Health Professions Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, FIPPA, PIPEDA, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other relevant legislation and regulations.
- Experience working with collective agreements and multiple union groups is considered an asset.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Understanding of and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable effective interaction with staff, employees, management, and unions with respect to sensitive and confidential issues.
- Solid working level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with an HRIS system.
