As an affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), the Louis Riel Institute (LRI) is responsible to the Métis people of Manitoba to provide programs, resources and services related to education and culture.

The Louis Riel Institute seeks to fill **two (2) Full-time Riel House Historical Intern Interpreter** positions located in Winnipeg, MB.

**Riel House Historical Intern Interpreter**

Reporting to the Riel House Coordinator, the Riel House Historical Intern Interpreter will support site programming including groups, tours, and social media. Intern Interpreters will be mentored by both the Interpreters and the Coordinator. Shifts may include some evenings and weekends.
- **Job Duties/Competencies**:_
- Work with Interpreters to learn the skills associated with working at the Riel House National Historical Site
- Assist in delivering a wide variety of educational programs for children, youth, and families
- Assist in providing interpretive tours of Riel House for school groups, tourists, and the general public
- Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of the home, artifacts, clothing, garden, and yard
- Assis in the preparation of smooth delivery of special events and third-party events
- Work in collaboration with Parks Canada staff
- **Skills and Qualifications**:_
- Must be interested in working with children, youth, and the general public
- Have an interest in Manitoba and the Red River Métis history (additional training will be provided)
- Interests in handicrafts, Michif Language, gardening, and traditional music (guitar, fiddle, etc.) would be an excellent asset
- Ability to work in the summer heat while dressed in historically accurate clothing is also an asset

**Salary Range**: Starting at $15.30/hour

**Start/End Date**: June 24-August 31, 2024

Le Louis Riel Institute cherche à pourvoir **deux postes à temps plein d’interprète historique interne à la Maison‑Riel**, pour une durée déterminée, à Winnipeg, au Manitoba.

**Interprète historique interne à la Maison‑Riel**

Relevant du coordonnateur ou de la coordonnatrice de la Maison‑Riel, l’interprète historique interne participe à la prestation de programmes sur place, notamment l’accueil de groupes et les visites guidées, ainsi que dans les médias sociaux. Les interprètes internes seront encadré(e)s par les interprètes et le coordonnateur ou la coordonnatrice. Ils peuvent être appelés à travailler en soirée et le weekend.
- **Fonctions et compétences**:_
- Travailler avec les interprètes de la Maison‑Riel afin d’acquérir les aptitudes nécessaires pour ce travail;
- Aider à la prestation de programmes éducatifs pour les enfants, les adolescents et les familles;
- Aider à l’animation de visites guidées de la Maison‑Riel pour des groupes scolaires, des touristes et le grand public;
- Prêter main‑forte aux tâches d’entretien et de maintenance de la maison, des objets, des vêtements, du jardin et du terrain.
- Participer à la préparation et au bon déroulement d’événements spéciaux et activités de tiers.
- Travailler en collaboration avec les employés de Parcs Canada.
- **Aptitudes et qualités requises **:_
- Être intéressé(e) à travailler avec des enfants, des adolescents et le public en général.
- S’intéresser à l’histoire du Manitoba et des Métis (formation complémentaire offerte).
- Tout intérêt pour l’artisanat, la langue michif, le jardinage, les plantes indigènes et autres et la musique traditionnelle (guitare, violon) serait un excellent atout.
- Une tolérance à la chaleur causée par le port de vêtements historiques est également un atout.

**Salaire de départ **:15,30 $

**Période d’emploi **:du 24 juin ou dès que possible avant le 1er juillet jusqu’en août 31
