This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

In accordance with the Temporary Librarian, Administrative and Professional Officer (TLAPO) Agreement, this position is an initial appointment of two years and offers a comprehensive benefits package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits and annual salary range of $66,730 - $111,144.

**Location - **North campus. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in person.

**Position summary**

Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, the Data Analytics Officer works collaboratively with leaders within the Faculty of Engineering, both Academic (Dean, Associate Deans, Chairs, etc.) and non-Academic (Faculty General Manager, Officers & Managers) to identify the questions, problems, and decisions which require data & analysis, then identifies data sources, design systems to collect and manage the data, and produces analysis and develops insights to drive decision making with the Faculty of Engineering.

A key area of focus of this role is the data sources required for professional accreditation with Engineers Canada and the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). Engineering collects and maintains a vast array of proprietary academic data that is required to maintain accreditation and drive its Continuous Improvement Process (CI), a specific provision of CEAB policies that require Engineering programs to continuously measure student outcomes and adapt programs to meet the continually evolving needs of the profession. This role is expected to, with input from stakeholders, create the workflows and systems needed to successfully implement CIP within Engineering for the next accreditation cycle expected in the Spring of 2025.

**Duties**

Data Analysis, Reporting, and Visualization
- Undertakes quantitative and qualitative analyses across diverse data types to inform decision-making, optimize operations, and support accreditation requirements
- Develops and sustains dynamic reporting systems, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to stakeholders
- Authors and facilitates the writing of reports for external stakeholders, ensuring findings and insights are clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Establishes robust and transparent methodologies for high-quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy

Data Applications
- Evaluates and deploys tools, technologies, and platforms for data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to enhance the faculty's data-driven capabilities

Strategic Resource
- Champions a culture of change, fostering an environment that encourages innovative thinking and the adoption of novel solutions
- Contributes professional expertise to the development of plans, objectives, solutions, policies and procedures. Engages in an objective analysis of alternative solutions, evaluating the benefits, drawbacks and potential impacts to organizational stakeholders
- Supports the implementation of data-driven initiatives and contributes to projects that have Faculty-wide impacts, leveraging project and change management skills and working directly with applicable Service Partners
- Synthesizes complex information gathered from a variety of internal and external sources.
- Contributes to and participates in Faculty-led committees, meetings, taskforce groups and/or ad-hoc committees/meetings
- Recognizes and understands the diverse and sensitive context in which the University of Alberta and the Faculty of Engineering operate

Relationship Manager
- Embeds an equity framework in their work, proactively identifying equity-impacting decisions and works to eliminate structural and procedural barriers to equity in faculty decision making
- Champions collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering and other departments and central portfolios, sharing best practices in data design and analytics to foster a culture of mutual learning and innovation.
