**About the role**

Insurance for **Commercial Groups** can be complex and multifaceted. We work closely with our broker partners to develop insurance programs and provide coverage tailored to the needs of associations, franchisees, and business groups.

As an underwriter in the Commercial Group Solutions team, you will have the opportunity to use your knowledge of Commercial insurance by working on risks for various programs.

**You will have to**:
Act as designated program lead; negotiate pricing and underwriting conditions with brokers and participate in the performance analysis of each program

Accept, reject, approve, renew or cancel policies in accordance with Intact’s underwriting guidelines and procedures as well as those contained in a program agreement, applicable laws and regulations

Put the client at the heart of everything you do, from educating brokers to finding innovative solutions

Build trusted business relationships with brokers, tailor your approach, and seize sales opportunities

Use your negotiation skills to maintain healthy business relationships

Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events in support of our business objectives

Assist and mentor team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other Intact divisions.

**Here’s what we’re looking for in our future underwriters**:

- 5 to 7 years experience in a similar function or any combination of training and experience in commercial lines deemed relevant
- Skilled communicator who likes to make decisions and excels at influencing others
- Strong negotiation skills, business acumen, autonomy and a good aptitude for teamwork
- Initiative, proactive in finding solutions and focused on service.
- Ability to make decisions in urgent situations, solve complex problems, recommend courses of action and take calculated risks
- Curious, desire to learn, strong analysis and synthesis skills
- Positive, motivated and open to change
- DCS in Financial Services and Insurance Techniques or ACS in Property and Casualty insurance (asset)
- Bilingual French and English - written and spoken. Necessity as you will work with brokers and colleagues accros Canada on a daily basis.
