The Critical Studies in Equity and Solidarity Program at New College seeks a sessional lecturer from July 1, 2024 - August 31, 2024 for the following online course:
**CSE444H1S **- This advanced seminar interrogates how the theorizations, embodied lived experiences and lived resistance to structural violence can create social, epistemological, ontological and political decolonizing/anti-colonial transformation. The work of Frantz Fanon, John Akomfrah, The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, Elaine Brown and Assata Shakur amongst others are utilized to search for alternative and oppositional ways to rethink and re-respond to violence. The seminar pursues a nuanced understanding of violence as it relates to de/anticolonization as a lived praxis of resistance and as a practice of self-defense that is grounded in the assertion that there can be no _de_colonization without _anti_colonization.

**Salary**:Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90
Sessional Lecturer I (Long-term): $9,930.79
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77
Sessional Lecturer II (Long-term): $10,326.62
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76
Sessional Lecturer III (Long-term): $10,570.02

**Note**:This course will be delivered in an online synchronous format. However, please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
Completed or nearly completed Ph.D. (or equivalent) with a scholarly and praxis grounded background in the Fanonian politics of anti-colonization.

**Preferred Qualifications**

Teaching experience at the university level preferred.

Note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and _should not apply_ for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.

**Responsibitities**:
Normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; and holding regular office hours.
