**Overview**:
The Nova Scotia Salmon Association is a multi-generational collection of passionate anglers and concerned conservationists representing the interests of over 25 river associations and their members.

We are a leader in watershed stewardship and innovative aquatic habitat restoration. The NSSA and its partners conduct freshwater conservation and recovery projects in support of Atlantic Salmon and the ecosystems they inhabit. Our restoration work focuses on two flagship projects. First, the Adopt-a-Stream program fosters community-led freshwater habitat restoration; providing expertise and knowledge to guide community groups but also leading larger habitat restoration initiatives. Second, the West River, Sheet Harbour Acid Mitigation Project is an integrated approach to recovering Atlantic Salmon rivers and hinges upon combatting the effects of acid rain, addressing instream physical habitat restoration, and conducting scientific studies and monitoring to address knowledge gaps.

**Location**: _Bedford, Nova Scotia_. The recovery planning scientist will primarily work from our offices in Bedford, NS, although occasional regional travel to meetings and workshops may be required.

**Supervisor**:The primary supervisor and point of contact will be the Nova Scotia Salmon Association’s Senior Research Scientist.

**General Description of Duties**:
The Recovery Planning Scientist will be responsible for overseeing the planning, analysis, writing and delivery of the Watershed Stewardship Plans as part of the NSSA team. Activities may include, but are not limited to:

- Adaptation, refinement and writing of watershed-based recovery plans for focal species-at-risk,
- Synthesis and management of geodatabase within ArcGIS including the analysis of geospatial habitat metrics, use of LiDAR-derived measurements and the creation of mapping products,
- Conduct spatial statistical analysis of species-habitat relationships using machine-learning models (e.g. Random Forest Models),
- Complete written project reports and lead/contribute to writing peer-reviewed literature,
- Leading multi-stakeholder workshops in support of watershed-based recovery planning and presenting project outcomes to partners and local community,
- Coordination among partners, interaction with community groups including public presentations,
