**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Technician, Environmental is responsible for assisting in field logistics and supporting field teams working on planting programs and/or the monitoring, collection, analysis of environmental data.
**Major Responsibilities**:

- Operates and maintains equipment (tractors and implements, trailers, brush hogs, weed trimmers, etc.) and troubleshoots and problem solves equipment issues.
- Conducts regular planting site visits, including initiating contact with private landowners and other stakeholders as required.
- Provides technical expertise on natural cover planting restoration and management projects including restoration plan interpretation, site preparation methods, safe access, etc.
- Assists with the coordination of materials, equipment and services as required.
- Participates in daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning.
- Ensures compliance with occupational health & safety policies and practices, and other TRCA policies, as applicable in various work environments.
- Ensures quality control measure are included into all areas of work.
- Coordinates field crews and community participants undertaking natural cover restoration and management projects.

**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
- Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license.

Experience
- 2+ years experience in ecological restoration or forestry management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Highway Traffic Act (Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7, Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR)).
- Knowledge of and experience operating and maintaining equipment including tractors and implements, trailers, UTVs, weed trimmers, etc.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate project status for various audiences.
- Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating environment.
- Sound data management skills; experience working with databases and GIS software.
- Sound communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the team.
- Experience interacting and connecting with persons of various social, cultural, or economic backgrounds; at ease with a variety of audiences.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint); advanced MS Excel capabilities for analysis, data visualization.
