**Position Summary**
The Office Assistant/Resident care provider is responsible for administration and resident care duties as outlined in the Job Description.
**Qualifications**
- Belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour is a requirement of this position.
- Be willing and available to share your Faith with residents at their request.
- Knowledge of the Bible and Christian prayer for the benefit of those residents who request
- Subscribes to the Mission Statement and policies of House of Hesed.
- Ability to cover various shifts when necessary if available
- Ability to work in a controversial social area.
- Possess a genuine desire to assist in the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with substance abusers.
- Good Computer Skills
- Ability to problem solve, be effective in conflict resolution and mediation.
- Ability to work independently.
- Demonstrates ability to foster an environment that supports resident care
- Self -motivated (recognizes a job needed doing and does it).
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral communication abilities
- Knowledge of Universal Precautions.
- CPR/First Aid Course required.
- Criminal Record Search Certificate with Vulnerable Sector screening.
- Respect, adhere and represent the House of Hesed code of conduct
**Job Descriptions** **(responsibilities)**
**Office administration**
- Prints, updates, creates documents
- Answers phones, filing, photocopies
- Ensure all logs/schedules, task sheets are printed
- Updates staff communication, confidential and Medical log books when necessary
- Updates and maintains mailing list (Data Base)
- Updates Website
- Ability to design and format quarterly Newsletter
- Post updates and newsletter on Facebook, Website, Mail Chimp
- Makes sure resident appts. appointments on Weekly Staff Schedule do not overlap
- Ordering office supplies
- Check references for potential staff/volunteers
**Resident administration**
- Dispenses and orders medications
- Make Doctor appointments
- General physical care of residents requiring assistance
- Gather all appropriate resident information for potential residents
- Application form
- Medical form filled out by Doctor
♦ Completes orientation process for new residents
**Household**
- Post upcoming meetings and events posters 2 days prior to meeting or event.
- Order cleaning and office supplies when necessary
- Arrange for household repairs and maintenance
**Fundraising**
- Actively promote the ministry of House of Hesed
- Assists with fundraising projects with the Team
**Spiritual and Faith Based duties;**
- Ability to lead and or participate in Bible study groups with residents, staff and volunteers who wish to attend.
- Ability to lead and participate in group and/or individual prayer with residents, staff and volunteers
- Ability to share and discuss Christian faith values, principles and doctrine
- Willing to say Grace before meals
**EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS**
1. Salary will be administered on a bi-weekly basis.
2. This is a one year commitment commencing from start date of employment.
3. There will be a 3 month probation period from start date of employment
4. Resignation requires one month written notice.
5. Complaints or grievances will be discussed with the Operations Manager with the goal of resolving the problem within a five day period from notification of the problem.
6. In the event that a resolution cannot be reached with the Operations Manager, further discussion of the grievance or complaint will be held with the Executive Director and possibly the inclusion of a member of the Board of Directors. This decision will be considered final.
7. Work hours for morning receptionist Monday to Friday 1:00 - 4:00 (cover morning reception position in the event of illness or holiday time.)
8. Salary is based on experience
