We're looking for 2 Education Program Officers to assist with developing teaching materials and program resources for our new youth empowerment initiative mobilizing young adults ages 16-27 to become active agents of social and environmental change in their communities.

Education Program Officers will be responsible for assisting our PowerSeekers Program Manager with researching and developing new lesson plans and experiential learning activities for PowerSeekers personal development challenges, and assist with the planning and implementation of a BETA-test soft launch for the program, including assisting with program publicity and participant recruitment.

Additionally, Education Program Officers will join all Prime Earth Team Members in the planning, preparation, and delivery of special online events for our members and the general public focusing on nature education and wildlife conservation.

**Job Tasks & Responsibilities Include**:
[A] Educational Programming
- Assist with developing PowerSeekers program materials, including lesson plans, experiential learning activities, and supplemental resources for program delivery
- Conduct public opinion and attitude surveys to identify the interests and concerns of key groups served by Prime Earth
- Develop and organize workshops, meetings, and other events (both in person and online) for publicity, fundraising, and information purposes as part of the program's soft launch.
- Assist in the preparation of brochures, reports, newsletters, and other program materials
- Craft program specific content for the Prime Earth newsletters
- Ensure digital marketing content aligns with our brand's identity, mission, and messaging
- Assist with monitoring progress on our Measurable Impact milestones for both education programs

[B] Event Planning
- Assist Prime Earth Team Members with planning and preparing for online event activities
- Assist with creating promotional materials related to upcoming events
- Assist with delivering online events
- Assist with collecting feedback and attendance statistics for event summary reports
- Have proficient knowledge of anthropology with academic training in either biological or cultural anthropology including primatology, human evolution and adaptation, human bio-social variation, cultural sensitivity, globalization, and the 4-fields of anthropology
- Have knowledge and skilled understanding of current environmental issues, biodiversity/wildlife and human-animal relations, and climate change
- Have excellent research, analytical, evaluation, and reporting skills with experience in project planning and development - this can include academic knowledge gained through coursework, practical experience gained through employment/volunteer work, or a combination of the two
- Have proficiency with Google Workspace tools, MS Office (Word, Excel), and experience with social media, web, and graphic design software (Canva, MailChimp)
- Be creative and able to 'think outside the box'
- Have experience preparing work plans and organizational forms to capture logistics and planning actions with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Have experience delivering creative, engaging education programs, community presentations, and events to a diverse audience
- Have poise and strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively on a diverse team with a variety of people from different cultures and sub-cultures
- Be a well organized, self-directed team player, able to work independently and collaboratively with teammates to complete tasks on time with mínimal supervision
- Have strong verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills including speaking in front of groups in person and online
- Have an interest in the role
- Educator training/teaching experience or vocational and life skills development experience is an asset but not required (i.e.: previous experience working with youth, teaching skills to youth in academic or in non-academic settings, etc.)
- Be available for occasional evenings and weekends
- Hold a valid Police Record Check conducted within the previous 12 months (this will be requested on offer of hire)

**Eligibility & Qualifications**:
**This position is dependent on funding through the federal Canada Summer Jobs Grant program. **As per the program requirements, youth hired must meet the following criteria:

- Be between 15 - 30 years of age at the start of the employment. The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled
