**Deaf Access Simcoe Muskoka** is a charitable, non-profit organization that works alongside culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people of all ages, their families, and the community throughout the region. We work to increase access to local recreational, educational, employment, health care, therapeutic, and social opportunities through direct service provision, advocacy, support and sharing of information.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide assistance and administrative support for the delivery of programs, services and events
- Provide direct support to individuals and their families in making and maintaining connections within the community using the individual's preferred language (or communication method) of choice
- Provide in-person and virtual workshops and individualized instruction to Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people
- Provide message relay between consumers and community services and advocate on their behalf
- Assist individuals with the selection, purchase, maintenance and trouble-shooting of hearing, communication and visual alerting devices. Offer instruction in the use of communication support apps, accessibility within virtual platforms and in-person strategies
- Participate in in-person weekly and monthly full staff and Community Support Services team meetings
- Support administrative aspects of programs, including intake processes, peer-to-peer matching, data entry and statistical reporting

Skills and Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Social Services or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and disability support/advocacy work experience, with knowledge of issues relating to culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people
- Understand social determinants of health and issues faced by vulnerable and underrepresented communities
- Fluency in ASL and English (French language an asset)
- Strong command of grammar, spelling and the English language
- Experience promoting programs and conducting outreach
- Knowledge of local and regional resources, including health and mental health services, programs for seniors, home and community care, community support and cultural services, etc.
- Willingness to travel and provide services throughout the region
- Computer and smartphone proficiency, including MS365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams), iPhone and Zoom, database software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to work from an integrated anti-oppression framework
- Possess a vehicle, valid driver’s license, professional liability insurance, snow tires and ability to drive in all weather conditions

This is a part-time, 22 - 28 hour/week position (to be negotiated). Blended working model; in office, from home and in the community.

A criminal background check (Vulnerable sector) will be conducted for this position.
