**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Research, Innovation, and Translation, the Rotman Research Institute (RRI) is a premier international centre for the study of human brain function. The primary research focus is on memory and the executive functions of the brain, both in normal aging and in the presence of diseases and conditions which affect the brain, such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. This role is in the Kunin-Lunenfeld Centre for Applied Research and Evaluation (KL-CARE), which is RRI’s support and services hub focused on working with healthcare professionals, researchers, trainees, and commercial partners to facilitate and support clinical, applied, and evaluative research.
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Provides centralized, technical expertise and supports in the area of cognitive neuroscience methodologies to KL-CARE clients internally and externally; this could include training staff and students, infrastructural support, implementation of testing and data analysis in the areas of eye-tracking, magnetic resonance imaging, neuropsychological testing, electroencephalography, etc.
- Works with researchers to ensure appropriate methodological quality and controls through the development of standardized protocols, pipelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Develops and leads training in cognitive neuroscience methods (e.g., develops standard training materials) for staff and trainees
- Provides research, project management, and implementation support (e.g., literature searches, design, research ethics, REDCap survey building, data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, knowledge dissemination) to a diverse group of clients (e.g., industry, clinicians, educators, researchers) in conducting cognitive neuroscience and applied research projects
- Developing and implementing project plans, overseeing resources (including project staff), deliverables, and milestones
- Manages project stakeholders and clients throughout the project
**Qualifications include but are not limited to**:
- Minimum MSc, in neuroscience, psychology, or a related field required; PhD is an asset
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a research environment
- Expertise in cognitive neuroscience methodologies, including (but not limited to) magnetic resonance imaging, cognitive neuropsychological testing, eye-tracking, electroencephalography, and brain stimulation techniques
- Experience with supporting the development of research grants or obtaining project funding, budgeting and financial management/tracking, Research Ethics submissions, participant engagement & informed consent processes, data collection and management, statistical analysis, publications and presentations
- Experience working with patient populations, particularly older adult populations and individuals with cognitive impairment is an asset
- Experience in a healthcare environment is an asset
- Previous experience in the provision of research services to clients, whether researchers, clinicians, industry, or the non-profit sectors is an asset
- Fluent in neuroimaging processing pipelines (e.g., fMRIprep), statistical packages (e.g., Matlab, R), and programming languages (e.g., Bash/shell scripting, Python), including analysis of cognitive neuroscience data
- Experience with Github and advanced research computing resources (e.g., Digital Alliance of Canada high performance computing clusters) would be an asset
- Strong analytical, quantitative and qualitative skills, including various analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, NVivo)
- Supervisory experience and personnel management
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft software (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and PubMed database
- Excellent verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills
- Effective internal and external stakeholder engagement, interpersonal, and team-building skills
- Excellent project management, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills to deal with a multi-priority, rapidly changing environment
