Winnipeg, Canada IISD Full time

**Peer Learning Officer, National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Global Network, Resilience**

The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is an award-winning independent think tank working to accelerate solutions for a stable climate, sustainable resource management, and fair economies. Our work inspires better decisions and sparks meaningful action to help people and the planet thrive. We shine a light on what can be achieved when governments, businesses, non-profits, and communities come together. IISD’s staff of more than 200 people, plus over 150 associates and consultants, come from across the globe and from many disciplines. With offices in Winnipeg, Geneva, Ottawa, and Toronto, our work affects lives in nearly 100 countries.

**About IISD Resilience and the NAP Global Network**

IISD’s Resilience Program is a multidisciplinary team of policy researchers who work with governments, civil society, communities, and businesses to help them manage climate
- and conflict-related risks. Its work focuses on planning, people, and nature—preparing for a different or uncertain future, making sure different genders and social groups influence and benefit from investments in resilience, and harnessing the role of ecosystems to help communities manage risks.

Within this portfolio, the Resilience Program hosts the secretariat for the NAP Global Network, an initiative focused on accelerating adaptation planning and action in the Global South. The Network strives to achieve this goal by a) enhancing national-level action through short
- and longer-term technical support on adaptation planning, b) facilitating South-South peer learning and exchange, and c) generating, synthesizing, and sharing knowledge on NAP processes.

This position will focus on supporting the NAP Global Network’s activities on peer learning, which bring together policy-makers, technical specialists, and non-governmental actors working in the Global South to learn from one another on common issues and challenges related to national adaptation planning. To date, the Network has engaged over 400 representatives from over 60 countries in peer learning.

**Job Purpose**

The Peer Learning Officer, NAP Global Network, organizes activities under the Network’s peer learning and exchange pillar to support developing country representatives to learn from one another to advance their NAP processes.

**Scope**:
The peer learning officer is the focal point for planning and tracking peer learning activities for the NAP Global Network.

**Responsibilities**

Program Management and Operations
- Works with the NAP Global Network Knowledge Manager and members to scope, design, and implement peer learning activities that respond to country partners’ priorities for national adaptation planning and sustain conversations between events. Leads the organization of South-South peer learning and exchange events (in-person and virtual), working with technical and facilitation team members.
- Works with the NAP Global Network Coordinator to develop and maintain suitable evaluation tools, including tracking the implementation of a work program to deliver on the NAP Global Network’s strategy to 2025.
- Works with communications staff to publish post-event articles and workshop reports.
- Maintains an internal database of peer learning and exchange participants.
- Provides briefing materials on the Network’s approach to facilitation and works with the Coordinator to maintain a roster of external facilitators.
- Oversees the coordination of specific Network peer learning and exchange activities.
- Works with project managers and the Coordinator on monitoring and evaluation of peer learning activities, including preparing and reviewing narrative reports to funders on peer learning activities and supporting the Head of Secretariat or their delegate to prepare inputs for the NAP Global Network's Steering Committee and Management Team meetings.

Communications
- Works with the NAP Global Network’s Knowledge Manager and communications staff to identify stories of change and case studies resulting from the Network's activities, which can then be profiled through different media and communications channels.
- Coordinates with the communications team and Knowledge Manager to identify topics for webinars to sustain peer learning discussions and highlight good practices and case studies identified through peer learning activities.

Outreach and Partnership Building
- Supports the Head of Secretariat or their delegate to profile the results of the Network’s peer learning pillar at national, regional, and international outreach events.
- Supports the Head of Secretariat or their delegate in maintaining relationships with government partners in developing peer learning activities that respond to gaps and needs they have identified.
- Supports partnership with relevant organizations and/or initiatives undertaking joint peer learning activities.
