Administrative New Position

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager, Finance Systems and Technology, is responsible for the smooth operation of the College’s financial systems. The role leads overall Finance technology strategy, including conducting research on technical solutions, preparing requirements gathering and documentation, making technology recommendations to improve processes, scoping and leading projects, coordinating and performing ongoing testing of current and new systems solutions, and managing risks associated with systems and technology. The incumbent acts as product owner of key solutions, including the general ledger system, the budgeting system and enrolment planning system.

The incumbent will provide technical leadership to the Finance department and will work closely with Information Technology and Systems (IT&S), the Registrar’s Office, HR (Payroll) and other stakeholders to cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The incumbent will ensure that key systems are updated, maintained, and meet the business needs of users. The incumbent will also act as a steward of financial data.

**Responsibilities**:
**Project Management**
- Manages all aspects of Financial Systems projects, including identifying business requirements and translating them into functional and technical specifications
- Prioritizes Finance projects and initiatives based on input from the Finance leadership team
- Develops and maintains a project roadmap for all financial systems and projects to ensure the necessary prioritization and approval processes
- Establishes and maintains excellent, ongoing relationships with IT&S to ensure technology solutions meet or exceed College-wide technology standards, and best utilize established practices and existing tools capitalizing on cost and supporting effectiveness and efficiency
- Actively supports the enhancement of efficiency and performance at department and institutional levels by identifying areas for improvement and participating in the implementation of enhancements and upgrades
- Effectively manages projects to enhance operational efficiency, including vendor relationship management
- Works with Finance leadership to understand their functional areas and collaborates to find opportunities to improve processes through technology
- Conducts research to ensure that the Finance department is using best-of-breed systems and technology solutions that align with both business process and technology best practices
- Identifies key areas of change and major impacts to business processes and is responsible for ensuring effective change management across the organization relating to Finance systems and technology through a variety of methods including but not limited to establishing work groups, identifying and providing learning and training, collecting and evaluating stakeholder feedback, and ensuring both business unit and end-user participation and signoff in testing
- Develops, supports, and executes change management strategies and processes for defined financial systems projects

**Financial Systems Management**
- Responsible for the overall operation and performance of systems and technology within the Finance department, such as the Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) ERP system
- Leads the finance systems strategy, ensuring technology platforms, finance systems and data are developed and maintained to support the Finance team in its strategic objectives and to improve the efficiency of the system of financial control
- Researches new technology or functionality capabilities and other system enhancements that are consistent with the strategic objectives of the Finance team
- Works with the business units in Finance, IT&S, Risk & Governance and vendors to drive standardization, automation and enhancement of finance systems and processes and ensure alignment across the organization
- Conducts and/or coordinates testing of updates and patches as required and ensures proper review, approval and sign-off
- Provides ongoing support and training for Finance-specific systems including related end-user guides and documentation
- Works with IT&S, vendors, and team members to plan, prioritize and implement technology upgrades, fixes, and enhancements to existing systems on a scheduled or ad-hoc basis depending on criticality and urgency
