Mainland is hiring a **Health Safety and Environment Administrator** to join our team.

**Overview**

The **HSE Administrator** will report to the HSE Manager and ensure that the employees of Mainland have the knowledge, tools and support they need to manage the business from a safety perspective. They will assist in creating an environment which maintains and improves employees’ general health and safety. The goal is to ensure employees continue to grow, learn and contribute to the success of Mainland while ensuring compliance with all safety legislative and corporate requirements.

**Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as a safety champion - promote a positive safety culture at all levels of the company, specifically in the field
- Support site supervision with implementation and management of the Mainland HSE Program
- Monitor the HSE programs at various sites to ensure consistency with procedures, legislative requirements and the site-specific plan. This may involve visiting site regularly and working with site teams to address safety issues and non-conformance to the program
- Assist with safety inspections, toolbox talks and completing hazard assessments on processes and individual projects
- Assist supervisors with accident, incident and near-miss investigations, to ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are identified and effective
- Support & Conduct new employee and sub-contractor safety orientations
- Train workers on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including fit testing of respirators for workers
- Organize and participate in emergency response drills
- Participate in the Joint Health Safety Committee
- Assist to identify problem areas and collect information to make recommendations for remedial action
- Assist in the planning and start-up of new projects with respect to site-specific HSE plans
- Participate in and coordinate HSE initiatives on job sites and at the corporate level
- Participate in the continuous improvement of the HSE Program
- Generate and/or maintain statistics
- Will visit multiple sites and will need to drive between projects
- Manage and Upkeep Online Safety & Compliance Systems, such as ISNET, Avetta, etc

**Qualifications, Experience & Skill Set**
- Completion of a post secondary program in a related area or a combination of industry related training and experience
- Preference for recent completion of CSO course completed at BCIT, Care-Institute or Universal Health & Safety
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role within heavy construction, civil, deep excavation and shoring, and natural gas construction
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC Health & Safety Act, Regulations, Guidelines and construction industry standards
- HCSS experience and/or knowledge is considered an asset
- Collaborative team player and able to maintain composure in all situations
- Result orientated with a strong focus on continuous improvement
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and written/spoken communication skills
- Class 5 valid BC drivers license with satisfactory abstract
