**Position Summary**

The Specialized Criminal Justice Navigator is a critical member of our Family Violence Prevention team. The intended outcome of the Navigator position is to mitigate the impact of crime on victims.

The Navigator will have an exceptional skillset in building supportive relationships with victims of crime (with a specific focus on gender-based violence, elder abuse, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls), navigating complex systems, and building effective relationships with community partners.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Develop healing relationships with victims of crime (including child victims) using a client centered, trauma informed, and Indigenous worldview lens
- Identify, establish, and maintain trusting and supportive relationships with key community partners (including but not limited to local Indigenous communities and organizations, Victims Services Units, and RCMP in multiple communities)
- Support Indigenous ways of knowing and being in daily practice
- Initiate and facilitate the use of Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with community partners when required
- Support participants to navigate complex systems (including criminal justice and family law systems) in order to remove barriers and meet needs
- Advocate on behalf of participants
- Utilize principles and practices of equity, diversity, inclusion and decolonization
- Court accompaniment
- Provide information and support regarding Victims of Crime Assistance Program, Victim Impact Statements, Community Impact Statements, Restitution and the Restitution Recovery Program, and other assistance programs
- Act as a liaison between family and criminal court when required
- Data tracking, record keeping, and formal report writing
- Support program development and continuous improvement processes
- Support child victims as needed
- Drive to and from rural community locations
- Flexible work week (some evenings and weekends will be expected)

**Qualifications**
- Degree in human services field; or comparable significant work-related experience
- Registration with your regulatory body if applicable
- At least 2 years work related experience
- Knowledge of the cycle of violence, power and control, brain science, child development, trauma, grief and loss, and resiliency preferred
- Knowledge of sexual violence is an asset
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Experience working with Indigenous Elders and/or Traditional Knowledge Keepers
- Knowledge about regional Indigenous cultural protocols
- Critical thinking and complex problem solving skills
- Community minded, and systems thinking leadership skills
- Competency with Microsoft Office tools
- Demonstrated commitment to Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action
- Familiarity with Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls _Reclaiming Power and Place: The Final Report_
- Proven ability to engage in meaningful relationship development with community partners
- Ability to work alone and within a thriving team
- Reliable Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to provide criminal record check and child intervention record check

**Compensation package**
