Agricorp is looking for a **Controller** to join the Finance department in the Corporate Services division. Agricorp’s Finance department is a dynamic team responsible for day-to-day financial operations, including treasury, investment management, budgeting, reporting and financial analysis.

**The Role**:
As the **Controller**, you will be responsible for modelling strong leadership while ensuring integrity in all financial aspects relating to the fulfillment of Agricorp’s mandate, including financial and management reporting, effective internal controls, and financial analysis. The Controller leads a team of 12-15 individuals with the assistance of two Finance Managers. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and supports the CFO in a complex environment with multi-faceted financial transactions and diverse considerations.

In this role, you will:

- Provide leadership and coaching to all finance staff; maintain effective performance management routines, including aligned training and development; and provide coaching to team members for improved performance and individual development
- Provide support, strategic advice and counsel to the CFO, the Board of Directors, and Senior Management Team (SMT) on finance-related matters
- Develop and implement or improve existing monthly and quarterly management reporting and analysis
- Oversee annual financial reporting (audited financial statements and notes) and public accounts reporting
- With a long-term view, oversee the provincial business planning process and operational planning and be a key resource in strategic planning for Agricorp
- Guide the financial planning process in alignment with corporate strategy, including annual expense planning/budgeting, quarterly forecasting and variance analysis
- Deliver funds management on behalf of Agricorp, including investment management of the Production Insurance fund, the Risk Management Program Fund and developing and monitoring the Board-approved investment policy
- Oversee adequacy of internal controls and use experience, expertise and knowledge of industry best practices and trends to implement process improvements aimed at effectiveness and efficiency
- Provide a financial perspective by contributing to and participating in routine formal communication vehicles, such as the business calendar of events, annual report, and Board, ministry and employee presentations
- Coordinate federal, provincial, investment and other financial audits
- Oversee compliance with legislative agreements, program guidelines, policies and directives, as related to the finance function
- Set direction and implement financial technical solutions, such as financial and reporting systems, accounting models and workflows, within a broader technology direction
- Establish and manage highly critical relationships with senior management levels of government, including OMAFRA, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, the CRA, and external auditors, in a political operating environment
- Collaborate with and manage strong working relationships with senior leaders across Agricorp to develop the organization’s long-term financial and strategic budgets and forecasts, including communicating with and gaining buy in from external stakeholders, such as OMAFRA and AAFC, and internal stakeholders, such as SMT and departmental managers

**Salary**:$114,389 - $134,575
**Work status**: Full time in office, hybrid, remote (in office as required) work arrangements are available
**Location**: Must live in Ontario to perform this role

**Qualifications**:

- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation mandatory
- Significant leadership and management experience, such as providing work direction, coaching, recruitment, performance reviews and development of staff
- 10 years’ experience in financial management disciplines, including financial performance measures, internal controls, project/cost accounting, fund accounting, management and financial reporting and financial analysis, preferably in a multi-faceted environment in a highly regulated industry (e.g. financial services)
- General business management experience with a desire to develop in the agricultural sector and/or experience within the agricultural sector
- Experience with financial process improvements and design and implementation of internal controls an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Dynamics GP and IBM Cognos or PowerBI an asset
- Experience in the public sector an asset
